Small Hardpoints should be renamed "Corrosive Slots"
Why couldn't it just be 2 large and 4 medium? Hell, I'd take 2 large and 3 medium. But no, FD has a hard-on for sticking small hardpoints on everything. The only way this thing would even be worthwhile would be if you can stick a fighter in it. Just another underpowered medium in a stack of mediums. I suppose I'm still stuck to the grind to the Vette.
Cobra Mk 4 is the mini-Python. The Krait will be a blend of Keelback and Cobra Mk 3, so a low end medium ship.
I love the hardpoints as described. 2 large MCs, 1 medium feedback railgun and 3 small long range pulse or beam depending on efficiency and agility. I like the sound of that.
Personally I can't wait for all the endless hot takes on how the tiny distro (or powerplant) it'll have, suddenly makes it amazing, right after all these snazzy weapon combos are rendered entirely irrelevant and folks experience whiplash changing their position.
Type-10 says hello, by the way.
I am hopeful. Really. But I am also realistic. It's Frontier; this thing will have some sort of 'edgy and exciting' compromise that makes the entire conversation a bit humorous. They always do.
Corrosive is best on large or huge, because of their lower ROF the ammo reduction makes them drain about the same time as a normal medium.

Funny really, the T-10 was predominantly dismissed in the forums with pessimistic comments .... and had no comments about it from FD (if I remember correctly) ..... and the result was (mostly) a good surprise.
The Chieftain, however, appears to have gone the opposite route .... very optimistic hype, some encouraged by FD .... Let's hope few will be disappointed !![]()
So - now we know:
the two large are on top, the 3 smalls form a triangle around them, the medium one is under the nose
4 utility like most ships of that size,
2xC5; 1xC4; 2xC2; 3xC4 military internals
class 6 power distributor
375 unmodded boost speed with A-Rated thruster.
no SLF
Now it's up to the combat connoisseurs to tell me why my HP placements are wrong:
- 2 large fixed MCs/APAs
- 3 fixed beams/Hammers
- 1 Seeker/Packhound/Torp/Grommie
it was not a full loadout in mass,So engineered, it will have a FSD jump range of around 30 ish, and a boost speed of about 500 ? (oh wow !)
It'll land at 22-25 ly at best with a weapon loadout.
30+ plausible as an explorer if they don't change it much.
Surprised by the loadout, it outclasses the FAS and I think it'll replace it for most thanks to the weapon placement.
Poor Feds, can't ever seem to get a break.
I'm mostly interested in an "upgrade" of sorts from my fully combat loaded Vulture explorer ship, The Ronin. The Chieftain seems to be shaping up rather nicely toward that end.
