Choice of Non-PvP Servers in Full Game?

This implies that getting into a fully equipped Viper will be significantly easier in solo than in open play. There is no evidence for that.

Don't know why they'd bother... since SB1 kicked in I've ONLY played in open mode, NEVER been pirated, strolled away from every interdiction, worked up to a Lakon 6 once and only lost it coz I pressed "boost" instead of "thrust" while in station and half asleep, and have since worked my way back up to a Cobra and about to get into my second Lakon 6. You don't need Solo mode to grind right now, at least in open mode you occasionally see a hollow square and they might flash their lights at you.

I'm expecting it'll change with SB2... there's be better instance balancing for a start and possibly the introduction of player interdictions and some improved mechanics for piracy to placate the PvPers... it can't stay a trader's paradise forever.

What I also find interesting is all the everyone should be forced in all mode all the time crowd is that they do not want an even fight where both sides are ready for a fight. They want to hit slow unarmed transports that would not be able to fight back and ruin someone's day.

I am one of the people who got this game because I do not have to play and deal with the great masses. I will play with friends but that is it.

Yup... it's the difference between wanting to play with other people, and wanting to hunt/be hunted by other people.

Do you mean "NPC" pirates or "PC" pirates, because you'll be meeting just as many NPCs no matter what mode you play in.

And no, almost certainly no PvE only areas, regardless of the network architecture. The game is inherently PvAll, with filtering to fence off PCs if desired. That's not quite the same as PvE, however it's as close as it gets.

I guess what I meant was not necessarily no pirates, but no PC pirates, or at least a flag (a la WoW) where you aren't/can't be engaged for PvP.

I was thinking of this from starting off new and being so vulnerable - it might be nice for a noobie to get a feel of the play before being subjected to PC pirates when they are defenseless.

I get that it's "me against the world" or "my clan/team/faction against the world", but when you start off you're pretty much defenseless.

Since I started in solo, I was unclear if I can take those stats into MP and didn't want to risk it yet as I'm tired of starting over as it is.

I would also like to join a team ASAP, so if anyone is hiring, etc. or if that's even possible yet, I'm game. I like the idea of MP group support, but a nooby simply doesn't have this luxury and, let's face it: if they're stuck starting the way we do, with a Sidewinder and 1k in CR, they're going to need some protection.

I guess I could always "offer my protection services" to noobies - maybe that's an opportunity for a new market/service for more veteran players.

Smi': "I believe I've had an apostrophe!"

Hook: "I think you mean epiphany."

After my previous post and reading your post it now dawns on me that to really be effective in this game on MP, you'll need a team, really an Alliance, formed of serious haulers, serious offense and serious defense.

I now imagine a pack of fighters leading a jump on a major haul with transport ships trailing and defense fighters holding up the rear.

I'm curious now of the "social" elements that might be implemented to make this official in-game other than just a faction. Having the ability to set job types and ranks within the faction, as well as cast votes on what your strategy is, who should be who and who should be promoted would be pretty awesome.

The alliances that have formed in EVE like this make it pretty interesting, even as an observer.

Once the full game is released with its literally billions of star systems it will be unlikely you will even meet another player unless you want to. That aside, there are many mechanisms for dealing with players you do not want to play with.

Even though you and I differ on our thoughts on PvP vs PvE and I nearly NEVER agree with your assessment of the situation.

your comment is 100% correct and is the same one I have been struggling to pound into peoples heads. this game is going to be so big that you could start it, play for years and see less people in its entirety than you would see on a standard MMO in one day.

its nice to see someone you normally disagree with, having the exact same thought as you have.

Title.

Will it happen? If it doesn't, will there be safe zones? I'm thinking that considering I get an interdiction attempt every time I jump, having NPC pirates sitting around like BF4 "snipers" will get lame quick.

Wondering if I'll be stuck playing solo mode until I upgrade a lot.

Getting sniped by NPC interdictions will not be cured by playing solo.

You'll just have to nut up I'm afraid or stick to corporate systems.
