Cobra Mk.4 Gold/Chrome Paintjobs

I won't take up a lot of time here, but, just wanted to say I'm disappointed we didn't get Chrome/Gold for the Corba Mk.4 yet. I know, it's a laughable ship for the most part. But there isn't really a better time to give it a new paint than now. Doing it on the weekly ones not during holidays (like the ones in the email weekly) would leave probably a lot of people with nothing new to bring them to the store if they don't have the ship.

I honestly feel like the last paint that came out for it was Stygian Red (which hasn't worked since Odyssey launched, it looks like Stygian Blue and shows as having nothing equipped if you do click it). I'm not including Azure, as it does have that. But I'd really love for something to come out for it. My brand new SRV already has all the "rare" typically-seasonal paints (Gold, Chrome, Black, Stygian Red). Cobra Mk.4 doesn't even have a ship kit, let alone any of the recent skins.

So please, FD, if you're reading this... please give Chrome/Gold to the Cobra Mk.4. You'll at least make 11k ARX from me lol.

PS- Please make Azure available to purchase on new vehicles (for those of us who were eligible for it), for those of us who like matching ship, fighter, SRV. You did that with Midnight Black even though we got it for every ship in the game for Black Friday all those years ago.

Now, first of all the ship is not laughable it is my mainship since ever. Great fun! YOu can do what you want and everything feels like an achievement because it is. Beagle Point. Thargoids. You name it. Keeps the fun for the game because the challenge. And MkI III or Mk IV - for me the most beautiful ship.

Second, I have both, the chromed and chrome paints for it, it was a giveaway for free some years ago. They do look better in Horizons than in Odyssey for some reason. Gold is indeed not available as are many other - but it is a small population flying these, so I can see why they do not invest much time.

Heyo, since I'll never be able to get the MK IV maybe you can tell me how it works. Do you get one only (meaning it's gone if you sell it) or do you get to purchase as many as you want in all ports?

I believe it was short after launch when they created a huge model to exhibit it at some event. They never hid the beauty of it and where quite proud of this facelift MK III. And then they decided to make it a present to all those who backed the development of the game (and Horizons I believe) and so it shall remain. Personally, I have no objections of they would release it to the market, I mean if you want to show you have been a backer there is the founders decal and they could come up with another decal if one must show how special he or she is. ;-) If it wasn't for the Mk IV I would fly a MK III today. A bit less versatile but still pretty.

The only large static model is the Mk 3 for expos.

I don't care (since I have one) if others get it, but there will be howls from others enraged at the thought.

The only changes I know of were that for Horizons they added a planet surface underneath.

Isn't the MK4 a fair bit slower than the MK3?

That's the main reason I never really felt like I'm missing out on it, better utility or not.

I see - still lukewarm about it though as I can mean up other small pad ships (Vulture and Viper 4 in particular when facing other CMDRs, if I ignore the speed/shield meta the Courier). And have done pretty much everything comfortably with the MK3 before so don't feel I'm missing out as such.

You're not missing out MKIII is a fine ship. And as for fun in general: small ships ftw!

Load it up with HRPs and it morphs into a Tungsten Ingot of Pain.

I've come across NPCS like this and they are really annoying. Now, plant 5 Frags in that bad boy and its a nasty little git.

I love my CMIV and it's my daily driver for visiting planets and scanning for life / collecting mats.
I find it ideally suited to having an SRV as it fits in to relatively small spaces, has decent cargo capacity and is well defended.

I disagree about gold or chrome paintjobs though - I find them tasteless and ugly on all ships, much like a modern range rover with a wrap.

Black is the way forward for me.

The CIV is handy for Salad Hunting but it's a bit slow travelling over ground, I prefer the CIII for that.

I always used to paint CIVs black to hide the Roman nose but whoever re-worked the default pain scheme really knocked it out of the park so I'm using that at the moment.

I've been playing around with Thargoid stuff in the Pleiades recently & found an ideal job for the CIV - collecting corrosive cargo.

You can add some colour to the chrome, it helps!
