Ships Cobra Mk IV Owners Club

My Project Cobra MkIV

The Puriri

Decided to have a multi role run about with what Human Tech Broker modules I could fit;
A Pair of fixed shock cannons
a Meta Alloy HRP
and 16 ton Corrosive resistance Cargo rack

Rounded out with a ADS, DSS, SRV, First Class cabin, Bi weaves and fuel scoop/

Only just started engineering, as all things good things take time

With 3.0 out and DW2 on the rapidly approaching Horizon (geddit?), I needed a ship for prospecting/scanning/collecting/gathering mats & data to re-engineer my fleet and stock up for another Journey of a Lifetime.
I flipped through the ships stored at my home port... nothing suitable.
I searched through my stored ships... reluctantly, I decided there was (almost) only one choice, and summoned my Cobra MkIV, the "Sacred Chao".
What other ship can you fit with a Wake scanner, ADS, DSS, Collector limpet controller & SRV hangar and still have room for shields, a fuel scoop, cargo rack (for limpets) and a heat sink launcher which no sane CMDR goes anywhere without if possible, can land at outposts and still has decent jump range?
OK, yes: Python. But "Siphon" is my dedicated mission ship, and I didn't want to re-outfit her, and if I bought a new one, I'd have to engineer it, not to mention re-naming my mission Python "Siphon the Purple", then name the new one "Siphon the Black", so I didn't.
Early days yet, but I feel I may have previously judged the MkIV too harshly.

Strangely, I can't seem to purchase the Cobra MKIV anymore (not even at shipyards that are confirmed to sell it). I am a lifetime pass holder so I should be eligible to it and I owned one a few years back. Is it bugged at the moment?

Best regards,
CMDR Polarius

Perhaps raise a ticket with FD then?

The ships at the shipyards have changed around. It may be that you can still buy a Cobra MkIV, just not at the stations that you thought you could.
If you are looking at EDDB.io, check that someone has been to the respective shipyard and confirmed it should be present before raising the ticket.

Good point, I did in fact only check shipyards that had sold the Cobra MKIV in the past. I found a different one a few LY away that actually had it available.

Thanks,

For others who stumble across this thread, Hahn Terminal in Chuku is a very reliable place to pick up the CM4. Added bonus of having A rated everything in stock plus just about every internal you could want.

If you are out there, a good place to go with your new CM4 is Salikians (about 50 ly away). Pristine for mining, medium security, and decent place to Federation rank grind. Also, it has Solar Transit Dynamics, or STD...perhaps the best-named minor faction ever running the system :).

Should have some decontamination limpets.

As Madrax says. I have FA off on a button on my throttle so I can turn with it when needed.
works well to get the turn rate up to more than the Sidey.

I use this set up on a Beluga in Rez's and it is surprisingly nimble for something that normally handles like a brick.
Funny as well as other players were all is that a combat build Beluga.

Cheers will have to give FAOFF a bit more of a try

Have fixed weapons currently so will have to get used to the toggle

Flying FA off all the time requires some kind of special skills, or setting up your hotas to dull down the movements to prevent over steer. I know a few who swear by it, I think for the most part the majority of users toggle it on and off as required.

My sugestion is try the training missions, where cost is irrelevant to see what works best for you. I know of one guy who lands with FA off. Every time I try that it end with a rebuy :(
