Meanwhile the question of the Cobra MkIV was pretty conclusively answered in
this thread and the associate reddit post (linking to reddit from here is not allowed IIRC?). My impression was always that we'd still need to purchase it, but it was a question of whether it was unlocked or not.
Thank you for that link.
I missed the
reply to that thread from Falcon (added the following day) when I was compiling my list of links. (Do you mind PM'ing me the link to the reddit thread you're referencing?)
Just to clarify, I don't think anyone is arguing that frontier's original intention was to give the cobra for free.
In retrospect, people have located several places where they were VERY clear on this.
The point being made is that the
primary source of information that all customers would be exposed to was worded ambiguously, and some of the easily located announcements were flat out wrong in some cases. (the original facebook announcement is still one of the top results when searching for the horizon's announcement.)
Many people saw horizons being advertised on a couple of third party sites or in the launcher, then went to the store page and bought the game based on the wording in the store.
It doesn't matter how clearly Braben was during a twitch stream or how clearly a buried reply to the forum announcement was.
The only place you can be 100% certain a customer will see terms such as this is on the final purchase page, and that was not corrected until September.
Since this is NOT the first time that FDEV's choice of wording has caused a misunderstanding, it needs to be addressed in some way.
