I used to buy quite a lot of games, then got bored of yet another shooter, or poorly crafted RPG, or another racing game, and stopped paying for WoW years ago...The above posts just made me realise once more how normalised the concept around alt accounts has become. I can't think of any other game I ever played or even heard of apart from Elite that makes you buy another copy of the game, just to have a second (third, fourth, etc.) save slot. And as a result, doesn't share any DLC purchased already either.
Buying a bunch of alts, plus expansion, over the last few years has still cost me less than I might have spent on AAA games when they were interesting. Still buy the odd game, but, mostly save my pennies for my other hobbies, works for me.
But then, I choose to do so, FD doesn't actually make me buy anything at all.
