Codex Question

In the Codex, in each sector it lists a series of object types, with rumored, reported, and confirmed. my question is, if an object type does not initially appear in the codex at all, does that mean it does not exist in the sector at all?

it doesn't. if a regions codex does not list a terraformable ammonia world, it only means nobody has found one.

even though for some codex entries (mainly the biological ones) it looks as if there are spawn conditions restricted to some regions.
there are also some star types, which have only be found in not proc gen systems.

so if I find something that is not currently in the codex, it will still pop up the notification, and add it to the codex?

and what star types, other than the supermassive black hole at SagA*?

It's also possible that the Codex has a few glitches, where people have found things but the Codex refuses to accept them. I know this happens for some of the biologicals, but don't know if it's ever happened to stars or planets.

The Codex has other glitches, too. "Terraformable ammonia worlds", for example - such things do not actually exist, as "ammonia worlds" can only form outside of the Terraformable goldilocks zone. Every single "terraformable ammonia world" you see in the Codex is a lie.

i checked the one listed for the sol region - that AW isn't terrasformable... didn't get the codex entry, iw onder how the commander did, who got it in there :)

It was discussed some time ago, in this thread on rare terraformable types and in this thread too. Checking the EDSM archived scan data, there isn't a single genuinely terraformable ammonia world that has ever been found.

It's a glitch in the Codex - either an outright glitch, or the Codex is seeing some quality or aspect of these planets which we players (nor the system map, nor the player journals) cannot yet see (like "Thargoformability").

Only the person who first finds a particular type of object in a region gets listed as discoverer in the codex, anyone else just gets "confirmed" underneath the listing.

yes, i know that.
but the particular thing here is: the bubble system Irandan has a terraformable ammonia world reported in codex.
scanning and mapping that Ammonia World did not let me "confirm" it as a terraformable Ammonia World. It's one of the entries still only showing as reported.
so I'm wondering how the commander, who reported it first got it into the codex.
