Colonia Engineers

So if you're in Colonia you get engineers. But you have to fly back to the bubble to unlock them - so a 40,000ly round trip. Boooooring. And then they're rubbish until you upgrade them so as well as engineering grind you now have a grind to access the grind. Please stop with the grind. Grind within grind. I'm starting to think FDev view this as a social experiment. How much can they get people repeating the same mononous tasks. How far can they push it?
Well start using neutron jumps and make a ship that has a longer jump range so you can 40k ly in a day. If you do it right only 200 to 300 jumps total.

Editing post

Reposting this so it shows up on the first page to help people understand how fast you can get to Colonia if you do things right.

This video shows someone who went from Sol to Colonia in less than 2 hours. Evacuation Proclamation

The topic was written by Alex Brentnall
Stats:
Note: Items marked * use the time to Colonia System entry

Distance travelled: 22,000.47Ly
Jumps made: 107
Neutron star boosts: 93
FSD grade 3 boosts: 13
FSD repair stops: 3

Time to Colonia: 1.79 hours OR 107.54 minutes OR 6447 seconds
Time to Jaques: 1.87 hours OR 112.25 minutes OR 6735 seconds

Average distance per jump: 205.61Ly/jump
*Average time per jump: 60.25 sec/jump

*Average jumps per hour: 59.77 J/hr
*Average distance per hour: 12,290Ly/hr

With a few route optimisations I can maybe shave off 1 or 2 jumps tops saving 2 minutes. Without the 3 missed neutron boosts and 9 minor errors I can probably take another 2 minutes off. Probably not worth it.
Goes nicely alongside the 2hrs 19min from Sol->Sag A* and the 6hrs 35min from Sol -> Beagle Point.
Please note Alex Brentnall topic a year old. I bet some people have beaten his time from Sol to Colonia.

Are you in Colonia? :D

Who out in Colonia HASN'T unlocked the basic 5 engineers?
If you've done that you'll be fine.
If you went all the way out there in a ship made of off the shelf parts that's your own issue.
Buy a sidewinder at Jacques, suicide back to the bubble do whatever unlocks you need to do. 20k lyr trip back done.
That's half the issue resolved.

Why should volunteer hermits have a special rule set?

We should already have engineers in Colonia and we shouldn't have to jump through rings to build them up again, what a load of rubbish, the idiot who thought up that idea needs sacking and lets move forward with the game, not 2 steps back.

Why do they like to make us suffer so much, its getting very tedious and I am starting to move away onto other things, most games nowadays progress and give you something in return for your hard work, the idiots that FDev have in their idea hut seem to be the rejects from these other games.

Its not a social experiment as they have already had those with their past idea's. FDev have this inability to give their loyal gamers something without the need to suffer to get it. There is a need to get rid of the dead wood its making FDev look very stupid.

If brains where legs, FDev's research and development staff would all be snakes.

Rant over....... Ahhh that feels better.

Have you not unlocked the basic 5 either?
As for people working together to upgrade the engineers out there I wouldn't worry virtually every Colonia CG I've seen reaches top tier.

This isn't anything new to access the Engineers from Colonia. The only really remarkable and compelling aspect of Colonia other than Jaques Station is its remoteness and relative isolation. Personally, I'd rather Colonia didn't have Engineers. Hopefully they're not needed to advance further in the meta by offering exclusive content or we're just going to get even more people complaining and wanting fast travel in the game. :(

I hope they offer blueprints unique to them.

Recipes not on offer in the bubble.

I'll fly there to do it.

Wow I roll my eyes when I have to go 300 Ly

Yeah, that's a whole like... 4 jumps for long jump range ships without using jumponium and star boots – then it would just be a couple. Fortunately, I like exploring, so jump range isn't really all that relevant anyway, unless you're pushing the limits on the fringes or something.

Yeah for sure, 300 in my FGS could be over 14 jumps depending. But I am bubble head who like to stay close to Sol. Maybe someday will build a travel ship. Which do you use The Asp?

Usually I take my time, but I do have this in the hanger for the odd occasion. https://coriolis.io/outfit/diamondb...IicAAAA=&bn=The Shimanagashi WR3-7D Long Jump Main reason I don't use it more often is the poor fuel scoop, so it isn't very efficient at exploration (systems per time).

It's just plain stupid.

An engineer at a Frontier outpost of civilisation requires you leave and go back to where you came from, to visit someone who has nothing to do with anything, someone of absolutely no relevance to anything going in Colonia. Go talk to someone literally half a galaxy away, before said engineer will talk to you!

Seriously would any engineer in Colonia EVER ask someone out there to do that? It's just ridiculous.

Not sure if this is the case but I've heard the engineers will also be locked behind another dull grind CG? If so you better get jumping and ferrying or you get nothing. If this is the case and I were in Colonia I'd not co-operate and tell Frontier where they can shove it.

Better get jumping suckers!

It's an optional thing, like moaning.

Anyone in Colonia I would assume doesn't mind long distance travel so it's a complete non-problem.

They want it NAO.

If these guys didn't use the starter engineers before going out there... Well in my opinion they're asking to be ganked by those pesky griefers for one.

More importantly, they're assuming they should get specialist treatment because they happen to not mind watching 500-700 loading screens before starting to play the game.

Now they get to watch the loading screen 500-1,400 times.

No. The thread isn't really about me. It's about more rubbish repetitive gameplay again.

I'd like a detailed description of the gameplay you would offer me.

I've been gaming since I was three. I've noticed one thing: All games are repetitive.

Elite is actually perhaps one of the most diverse.

You would think. Some may have moved out there to avoid other things in the game though. I don't know. All sorts of weirdos play this game, myself included. :)
