News Colonia Expansion Initiative

The timing coincides with the Colonia Carrier's Convoy. That means a good number of the players interested in the development of the area have to choose between the two events. Just saying. :D

Lets not go down this well trodden road AGAIN!!!
If y'all knew how to read english, we wouldn't have to correct false opinions

The CCN's nature is unconventional and it is bound to cause a bit of confusion. Get used to the question.

A good number of the ED player base doesn't speak English as their first language. I thank you for that comment on their behalf. Please don't get tired of correcting our "misunderstandings" or clarifying things for us... ;);)

It turns out actually quite interessting, while gameplay wise FD tries to do the "lets all be nice and friends" things but looking at it from a Roleplay point of view all is in place to turn Colonia Council into a big Villain worthy to fight :D

To be frank, I think there's a good bit of unfortunate naming going around. I mean, there's the Colonia Council in-game faction that was not requested by the CCN, then there's a vetting committee just announced by this also named Colonia Council, which was also apparently not organized with the CCN. Then there's that Jaques' system was also renamed to Colonia, so if you just refer to that name, it's unclear whether you refer to the one system, or the general area, or the nebula which has unofficially* been named the Colonia nebula.
Could we have some more varied names please?

Oh, and all these new factions from the old bubble could be interesting. The new bubble is special in that it's a much smaller area, only a handful of systems, so it's easier to find players there - and with three new minor factions showing up per month (as well as ten in the first wave), there's going to be plenty of BGS conflict. I just hope the native minor factions won't all dwindle away.
Or are the faction surface bases going to show up in new systems, and will the area expand?

*: as in not in-game, before anyone misunderstands; it's still called the Eol Prou AA-A h89 Nebula there.

Sure. In the way that Australia or the Antarctic research stations are a good enemy to fight.

Should be interested to see what this will mean for my independent mining & haulage career out there.

Go ahead and do it, then - the only difference between an NPC faction and a player faction is that for a player faction someone other than Frontier gets to pick the name and type. Even better, your faction is already there so you don't need to win a CG to start building it up.

Good point didn't really think off that whilst posting pre coffee, but i did think the Colonia Council was a player run faction, i now know other wise :)

The Jolly Roger Robbery Company has so far been nomadic in nature, due in part to the nature of our business interests.

Going forward it has been decided that a permanent base of operations would suit our developing corporate needs and we have therefore applied to Colonia to form our first outpost.

Interested parties are welcome to make contact with us directly on the forums or through one of the many Discord channels we have a presence in.

In the interests of full disclosure the CCN should be aware we are rogues. Often described as charming but never the less our business interests are illegal in nature. Should we be chosen to establish a base on Colonia I can guarantee that there will be drugs and guns, slaves and diamonds a plenty.

What do you say Colonia? Are you ready to introduce a little Anarchy?

Greetings Commanders!
TLDR; Summary and details
- Register to set up a faction in Colonia here
- The faction will be vetted and approved by the Colonia Council
- Once the CG goes live for resources in Colonia, Commanders will be able to pledge themselves to one faction and their efforts will go towards that faction. The top 10 factions will be set up in Colonia. The next month will restart and 3 factions will be set up there each month from that point on until further notice
- The faction will be set up as independent and the location and all faction details will be set up neutrally and allocated by the Colonia Council.
- Due to high resource costs - The Faction will only get a surface port, not a station.

So come join Colonia, break new ground, and create new civilizations!

Can someone clarify something for me about the repercussion of applying a faction :
If I (and my friends) apply, and our faction is chosen, and the CG is a win, what would be our responsabilities ? (If we would have some) Or it is more a faction name cration/planting our flag in the big galaxy?
Thanks

Greetings Commanders!

The Colonia Council and Pilots Federation would like to express their gratitude for your support in establishing a second bubble of populated space. The achievements in Colonia have been monumental and it is thanks to you. Whilst small, it offers a sanctuary from the current politics and happenings within our existing occupancy. Powers do no longer affect our daily lives and Superpowers do not fight for supremacy here.

The Colonia Council would hereby like to extend an invitation to Commanders from all over the Galaxy to join a new initiative to set up a hub in Colonia: the Colonia Expansion Initiative. After considerable consultation we feel ready to unveil our plan to invite more Commanders to make their home base in this friendly part of the cosmos.

How will it work?
In order to expand our existing population, we are inviting collectives of players to apply for a Migration Pass. To apply for a Pass, you simply fill out this application, tell us the name of your new faction that you wish to set up, and enter the contact details of the person registering the collective. The Colonia Expansion Initiative will begin on December 1.
This Initiative is open to all Commanders; whether you are a registered group, such as the Hutton Truckers, or a new collective of people, you are encouraged to make an application.
After initial approval, your faction will be added to the list of potential factions in Colonia, and we will start a Galaxy-wide request for resources in order to create these faction. Commanders will be invited to pledge their support for a faction through our Visa application site (see an example below).

Due to time and labour restraints of building these new factions, the Colonia Council will only be able to accept the top 10 most contributing factions in the first month. However, each month those factions will then be removed from the list, and we will restart the process to develop more factions and more homes in Colonia. The second month onwards will go down to 3 new factions per month for as long as the initiative is running. This mass expansion initiative means there will always be a chance for the community to develop a new home in Colonia and will set a requirement that every Commander taking part will have to have visited and contributed to the initiative. This way you, the Commanders of the Galaxy, will have the final say on who sets up home in Colonia, what activity happens in Colonia, and, free from Powers and Superpowers, what the politics are in Colonia. A true, organic new home for all Commanders wanting to join us!

I am starting the Poodle Party. It is devoted to advocacy of the right of all beings to enjoy a pleasurable existence, including health care, natural foods and drinks, freedom of expression, and to be solitary or in a gregarious environment while doing so.

Doggies are our model. :) Bad dogs who pirate, or ruin someone else's fun are exiled from the pack/party. Those who kill for ruining others right to have an enjoyable life will have high bounties placed on them. Out the airlock, bad dog.

Ralph requests our port be named Poodle Play Park. :) Doghouse should be our crate for bad dogs.

Be a good dog, and have fun!

Ralph.

The Syndicate has registered our long range colonisation teams, The New Worlds Syndicate. See you all out there on the new horizon! :)

Colonia needs food. Our faction will pay bonuses for food, medicine, and consumer technology. We will also need to make food, with all the needed commodities. A landable TC world would be great, but we will take any rocky/iceball Frontier generously hands out. Preferably placed as a location that is a first stop approaching Colonia, as a rest, recreation, repair, and refueling port. Like, maybe, where the route planner starts working for systems in Colonia?

Poodle Park works as a system name? With a buzzing neon sign over the nav bacon...errr, beacon?

We would like a shipyard that builds Sidewinders, Adders, Cobra 3's, T-6's, and Asp Explorers. No combat ships. No monster ships.

Please? :)

Additional request: less than 500 light seconds from a scoopable star.

Must give damaged craft a chance to make it, even if they only have a basic discovery scanner.

It goes without saying, that we are pet-friendly. Perhaps a zoological park as a tourist destination? And a biome of Terran species, plants, etc.

Of course we have a casino. :)

I'm willing to donate all my in-game assets, except for Alison The Asp to make it out there, to get the ball rolling.

Oh, yes. We need a UC vending machine, and a bounty broker.

Our mission givers shouldn't give out wet work/black ops jobs.

Toxic waste and weapons, etc are prohibited. No slaves. Get scanned with slaves, we shoot your drives out, and free the slaves.

Our system force should have KWS, cargo scanners, and interdictiors. Infinite Adders and Sidewinders. With missiles. The port should have all this plus every salvaged level 1 weapon available.

An engineer, with only level one available, but *every* level 1 that there is.

I wonder what this announcement will mean for those of us already building our home in Colonia. On one hand it worries me that "factions" will be developing communities of their own. Of course it's democratic to do so, but there are some risks if not done well.

On the other hand, I welcome growth, both economic and social. I've been living here since the first CG, and I've only seen very few other CMDRs. Colonia Council is on it's way out as controlling faction of Colonia Hub. Not sure if this was done by design, or simply a result of a small population of local traders/entrepreneurs.

I like being independent, I welcome others here, but for now I'll grab some popcorn and sit back and watch the show.

Stupid move guys and girls, where do you think the Thargiods will attack first ? 2 human colonies far from human space that has little chance of any military support from the major powers.
Might as well paint R.I.P on the stations because unless there's a massive change in drive technology to allow quick response to any threat then there just dead men walking.

Hey guys. Thought I would quickly clarify a few questions being asked. The first is that Colonia Council and the expansion isn't a CCN ran initiative but it may well be that they, or at least the military arm, try and set up a faction.

The email we sent out to existing in game factions was to get feedback and consultation on how factions could work from a functional perspective. After feedback we decided to make sure that it was available to everyone (which was always the plan) and that you have visited or will have to visit Colonia to take part.

Lastly, you don't have to have an existing faction. All factions are new. They can be a "sister faction" like Hutton truckers Colonia Division. Or an entirely new faction for any group of people.

It is open to anyone wanting to apply.

Hope that helps.
