Colonia or Bubble to 'Git Gud'

Recently I have dipped my toe in the shark invested waters of open play and PvP. To my surprise I discovered it wasn't the gank-fest misery I expected. Actually, everyone has been great!

With the kind help of the forum, especially Bigmaec, I now have a ship which, while clearly not absolutely meta (that would be an FDL), nevertheless is an awesome learner Battle-Krait. In fact I have now even managed to win a few duels, victory is never remotely assured, but neither is defeat or rebuy.

My game has been focused in Colonia for quite a long time now, the place has treated me well. But my thoughts are now turning to possibly expanding my PvP experience back in the bubble, maybe spending some time there to 'git gud' before returning to Colonia.

What do people think? How should I refine my limited of skills? My idea was to hang about known gank spots and send messages to anyone I suspect of being a ganker? Something suggesting they have dubious parentage, for example?

Perhaps a better way could be suggested!?

KWS scanner and 20kmj's worth of sheilds.

Just kidding though, no KWS
But totally do have 20kmj's worth of sheilds
If you see a Torp Mamba coming at you, I swear I have no reverb torps, its concordant and regeneration torps!
Just kidding, looking forward to meet you ingame :)

@Paul: if you really plan on gitting gud, you should return to the bubble sooner or later, the real Pros are there.
I'm just a mediocre PvPer at best.

I will do at some point, I've pledged to get Imp Hammers so might make a little stay of it then for a month or so to take in some practice, but I only justed pledged not worth going just yet anyhow

When it comes to serious PvP the only way forward is constant refinement and improvement through practice.
The broader the range of opponents and situations the more your skills, reactions and management will improve.
If your getting frequent and positive action where you're at then you should get as much traction from it as possible.
On the flip side,
I love the bubble and rarely leave the core systems now days but I have developed a contact list that gives me about 45 minutes of PvP for every hour I play so I'm very happy to stay put.

Many seem to struggle finding value for they're play time but ove many years I have found the secret to a full dance schedule is to embrace all three aspects of the PvP community equally.
By this I mean the black hats the white hats and the arsehatts .
Get ganked as often as possible, offer friendly 1v1 over locals or to anyone in S.C, hang around the busy hubs and you'll be targeted often and frequently by overwhelming force.

Don't sweat it. Take your licks. Be cool on comm's and ask your opponents how to get better.
Be just as cool with those you beat. Nothing kills a rematch quicker than being a dik afterward.
I have over 30k kills in the game and about three were commanders. There's just no need.
If you stop and offer an armed escort back to repair after they'll want a thousand rematches.

Appreciate the advice, Colonia is great but to expand my range everything you say seems spot on... If you see Bigmaec thread you'll see just how much I need the practice!

But you're getting better and better.
After some fights though you need to find other sparring partners, cause you know all my tricks.
For example I have the slight feeling you start to anticipate in which direction I usually evade

Maybe--it really shows when I fight other people. I beat Yolanta, Ratcatcher and WalterWoolfe but I go round Colonia (where I figured most people might be) and don't find much, if any PvP.

I'm loving our battles though, it's great fun and against a human is definitely different - and better - than against NPC's

So that's why I'm thinking a bit of time in the bubble is needed, some more variety, some more people to learn tricks off. Having said all that my permanent base will remain Colonia, it's developing really well and I think becoming better all the time

OK, so suicidewinder back to the bubble.

Going to gather a few mats and put together a copy of my Krait and Chieftain back here in the bubble. This will take a couple of days, then three weeks attempting to get ganked before returning to Colonia. See what I can pick up, not sure where to start, possibly Sol or Shinrarta I think

Back soon, wish you were all here!

Having a brief lull in proceedings while I await my Krait being shipped over, I went for the lazy way! Two days to go twiddling thumbs! Anyway, in the meantime I'm putting aside some credits for multiple rebuys and gathering some mats just to top up.

In three weeks I get imperial Hammers which I will buy a bunch of and bring back to Colonia with me. Hopefully a good few weeks of practice should improve my combat a bit.
