I would love that but I think the chances are less than zero.
its not going to be planetary landings, reading passed information released by frontier, the first thing you will see before PL, is the ability to walk around your ship, then comes planetary landings. but even before all that, thargoids will probably make an appearance first.
if it aint any of that then the big announcement wil be CQC coming soon for the PC. either way I think you will all be let down as every other big announcement hasn't been anything major.
but ill remain optimistic.

It says colossal announcement of something, not announcement of something colossal.
So we'll get something like a hotkey for showing/hiding orbits, but it will be announced as if it was walking around and shooting after landing on thargoid planets.

If you had read past information from frontier, you would have noticed that at Lavecon they said that walking about was a long way away.

I believe PS4 is coming for Christmas, but that it is not this announcement.
I suspect 1.4 will see persistent npc's alongside CQC and other stuff, whilst gamescom will reveal PLandings.
If this "colossal" announcement is about porting Elite to another platform or some more PP grind I will shake my fist in the air. To be serious - I have no idea what this could be - walking around your ship is not "colossal" I think, its to early for PL, so SP off-line maybe? No idea, keeping my hopes up.
They have said that the announcement is not tied to CQC.
Oooh - what if Microsoft buy Frontier for the Elite IP, kill off the authentication servers and make it a XB1 only franchise, with a free copy for everyone who updates to Windows 10 and streams it from their new 1Tb Elite branded XB1's with the Elite controller bundle - only $499!

idk. It's a semantics game, but colossal sounds like PL, and that would be a huge boon for exploration.
Most of us do. But, frankly, that is simply not the sort of thing you make a rah-rah about at a big show. Existing players will immediately grasp the significance, their target audience: those not yet playing, will not. That audience expects shiny bling. It is probably the first peek at the first expansion (probably planetary landings for Christmas) or something from way out in left field, like powerplay and CQC were.

Naw. We are in for both. The only point to argue is the proportion of people in each camp.
