First and foremost I am still very new to Elite Dangerous. I've been playing it since 31/12/17. So I was flying fairly new ship with a cargo of about 250 tons when I was attacked by a pirate CMDR. I figured I could outrun him but it wasn't looking good based on the damage he was giving me so I decided to log out because I didn't want to lose my ship or cargo. Upon logging out I was given a combat warning message basically telling me my ship had to last an extra 15 seconds which it did and then the game logged me out. I then received a message from him telling me I was not allowed to log out and to play the game properly.
I was a bit annoyed with his message because I was following the systems that Frontier have put in place by using the logout button and surviving the extra 15 seconds before I officially logged out. So my question to Frontier would be is this considered Combat Logging?
So with that said I would also like to throw in a possible solution to the problem:
When a player is in combat don't allow them to use the logout feature until they are out the combat zone and a significant distance away from the combat zone. If a player chooser to disconnect from the game another way(IE: pulling the ethernet cable out of their pc) then you really need to put a system in plus that removes the cargo from the inventory, transfer it to the station network and allow only the pirate CMDR access to from the Black Market Menu within a certain amount of time otherwise it can be claimed back by the CMDR. If the CMDR has a good reason for the leaving the game they can contact the pirate CMDR directly through the in-game message board, leaving the fate of cargo entirely up to the pirate CMDR. Also apply this to combat zones with NPC'S, if a CMDR is going to disconnect in fear of loosing there ship then they can live with getting these infractions.
I would also advise throwing in a system that logs these events and fines the CMDR 25% percentage of there total income if they continue to cause these infractions within a certain time-space.
Yes, some of your community won't like this but it will address I believe it will stop players from disconnecting to save their cargo and ship from getting lost or destroyed. If they don't like it tough luck, but Elite Dangerous is not meant to be easy, just like life. And though it's not perfect it would seem better than doing absolutely nothing which seems to be what's going on according to the coummity.
