Combat Logging

Screw eve. Im playing elite dangerous. A game that has powerplay(not working but for modules) A game that has player factions(that actively fight over territory). A game that has lasers and multicannons and enabled PVP within this game. If it wasnt meant to be they would have turned it off by now.

There is so much to this game.

Look if you dont want to do that. Thats fine. Thats your choice. Stay in solo or private. By making that choice. To remove yourself from the known multiplayer experience, you shouldnt be able to to effect the rest of the galaxy within them. You would be making a choice to be effected in the first place.

I have 0 interest in Eve.

If you want to play a game like that. Go play Truck simulator and make some deliveries in Europe. We have weapons and territory the list goes on and on.

And the The ability of combat logging, solo/private modes give players the advantage anytime someone tries to stop them. Its hurting the multiplayer experience because you cant face your adversaries.

My player group is pretty dang big, if I cant run into someone. Then one of my buddies in Germany can, or in Australia. If its on another console? GUESS WHAT we have them too!

We have all the means for competition in this game. They even advertise it!

But all that competition is taken away when people can take the lesser path of resistance, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnYXTh4TCVo

Its quite clear he is attacking our player faction correct? Its quite clear he states hes going to do it in solo and private cause he knows we can stop him correct?

I dont see why you guys argue this. Its pointless, You've lost. And I have the proof to back it up. Things have changed from the kickstarter days. Its time for the game to catch up to 2017 and allow the solo and private dudes to work on self progression, and not against the rest of the player base because they have the options to cheat the system.

I think Euro Truck Simulator is your game. Not one thats called Elite Dangerous, a whole game based upon conflict from the beginning.

I like ED and I usually play in open. I just recognize it's basically incompatible with players exercising control over territory or other players and to be frank I think that's a good thing. People get weird, overinvested and angry when you allow them too much control.

If one guy is successfully defeating your dang big faction you need to seriously up your game via the BGS or get used to losing.

Your not asking for change your asking for a different game.

Im asking for a balanced game. All the features would be the same. Just not available from solo or private modes, As well as killing any chance of people combat logging because they are losing.

I dont have a problem losing in a game. I have 2 billion in rebuys in this game. YOU want another game. This aint space trucker simulator. Yeah you can do it. But its supposed to be dangerous to do so.

Especially against other player factions. THEY ARE ADDING GUILDS DUDE. They are pormoting this stuff.

As a matter of fact they have promoted it with powerplay, and "OR HUNT OTHER COMMANDERS".

YOU WANT A DIFFERENT GAME. NOT ME.

yea I saw, my idea was a little more robust and feature complete, with the same data I can build a killboard for PVPers to "show off" their kills.

The idea is a two parts.
1. Search any CMDR and provided the data is there you will get their last known location. this could be extended to include systems with high player activity or systems where lots of players have recently been killed.
2. A website dedicated to tracking player kills and deaths and output them into a nice view for users.

There's nothing wrong with that in principle.

It could however, be gamed into oblivion within minutes.

For example - let's say SDC decide to go after me - ( even though they completely failed to turn up for all the single combat challenges I offered ;) ) and start heatmapping my CMDR in an effort to blow me up and gather salt from a carebear forumdad.

I head to a system low on the heatmap busy scale, and generate activity by getting alt accounts and resets to explode me, and make sure that data is visible to the heatmapper. Then I make sure I get a bunch of other carebear forumdads to make their way to the same area, and when the pew-pew's appear to slap my Asp they get three or four wings of clean, non heatmapped players to either engage in pew-pew fun, or just destroy their heatmap metrics :D

It genuinely sounds like a fun addition to the game, it would be opt in though I take it ?. Too many stalkers and people with something to hide out there unfortunately.

Are you calling David Braben irrational? ;)

Well, I certainly don't mean to be disrespectful to David, but on the other hand, I have to say that I've never one time ever gotten the impression from watching his video addresses that he's playing the same game as the rest of us. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that from his videos I'd guess he doesn't play ED at all.

I would even go so far as to say you don't play the same game I do, in fact it is a good bet everyone plays the game differently :D

Nobody is removing themselves from the multiplayer experience. As you just described, there's a ton of multiplayer content accessible to players who make use of instancing rules. In fact, all of the meaningful competitive content is totally mode agnostic, with everybody participating freely. The only thing people who limit which players they instance with might not do is direct pew pew, which is an utterly irrelevant activity when it comes to territory struggles.

Claiming that people just want to play ED as a single player game while also complaining that they're choosing to actively participate in its multiplayer content is contradictory.

Even that contextless video you link ad nauseam just goes to show that ED is a fundamentally multiplayer game no matter which option you click on the start screen.

Like M00ka said; that just sounds like "play your way" at work. When I watch his videos I get the impression that he's playing more or less exactly the same game I am. We're obviously at opposite ends of that spectrum, but I'm sure every player lies somewhere along it.

But I'm the one of the pair of us who knew about modes in advance and was happy with it, and based my purchase on knowledge of it. Typing truck simulator or using block capitals a lot isn't going to change that or the fact getting beaten via the BGS is making you demand everything gets nerfed rather than gitting-gud at BGS'ing.

The modes are here to stay, player choice is here to stay clogging is probably here to stay as well unfortunately.

You should try to keep your excitement and theory crafting about guilds under control until we know how FDEV are actually approaching it. You may well be setting yourself up for further disappointment due to your preconceptions.

well heat mapped data is user generated so there is no way to spoof it since its by nature designed to be created by its users... all you would achieve is what it was intended to do, also tracking goes both ways... nothing to prevent a clean gank. :D

To avoid taking this topic off, yes it would be mostly opt in... unfortunately someone had figured out how to track players against their will, turns out lots of groups have this already! so I am building a public one... tracking goes both ways when its public. though to put it simply the tracking would be less detailed unless you opted in. the aim of the project is to give players a tool to prevent being ganked(Risk vs Reward) you would have all the data you needed to avoid a gank systems away.

Other way round for me, when I'm in the mood I go after noob killers. I'm really bad at it, but still better than them more often than not.

Being obtuse is usually when people act slow witted on purpose, and I'm trying to figure out whether you're doing that now. If you're not doing it on purpose I apologize:)

CQC has no practical relationship to ED. I can't use my ship(s) there, and there are no transferable rewards that I'm aware of. The arenas do not exist as part of ED's world, and the power up strewn battlefields bear no relationship to flying and fighting in ED. CQC is a separate game.

The elite rank of CQC can get you to Shinrarta Dezra and I believe there is a system only unlockable by having certain level of experience in CQC.

Also space engine.

So much this ^^

I would be most interested in seeing your data :D

Nobody loses in Elite, because nobody can win in Elite.
Tssss! I think he follows the "If you kill your enemies, they win" paradigm. Somebody apparently owns his faction with much lesser investment and somehow that person or group is losing.

Then why are you afraid of being ganked in open? There is no loosing in ED no?

I think this ship has sailed, there is no way they'll change mode switching, meaning there never gonna be functioning Powerplay, and the stuff they want to add with the new update is gonna be useless if you can just avoid players altogether and undermine someone's effort by playing against them in solo/private.

Powerplay was supposed to be PVP oriented yet it turned out to be a grind competition.

I don't, I have my cat with me. There is no loosing in ED indeed, unless you are messing with powerplay or BGS. In that case you usually define yourself what losing means.

Do you play in open? Trade in open CG?
Can I shoot at you, you know, for fun, since there is no loosing you wouldn't mind right?
