Combat Logging

There is no PvP mode.

There is a mode in which PvP can happen. Big difference.

Open is not ‘about’ PvP.

You, Sir, are repped.

Personally, I think PvP should be kept to Solo mode.

All [current] problems solved.

Balance. Done.
Clogging. Done.
Instancing. Done.
PvPer complaining of lack of targets: Same as now.

:D

Did I win the internet?

And you Sir

I still love the entitlement of players in Open completely saying its OK to cheat because of non consensual PVP.

If you don't want the potential of PVP, stay out of PVP mode.

Queue the screams that all modes.. blah blah.

Open is the wild west mode, don't complain when you get scalped by Indians not sharing your roleplay.

It's not PvP Mode, it's OPEN Mode?

And Open Mode has three year old placeholder gameplay which while allowing PvP, does precious little or orchestrate any interesting/meaningful PvP, and does precious little to prevent toxic anti-social and counter productive PvP.

I'd suggest when there's more accountability for mindless "scalping", and some actually interesting orchestrated PvP for some real reason/outcome, OPEN will be a far more interesting place... At the moment, it's just a bunch of CMDRs trying to make the most out of very little...

Really looking forward to your PVP vids with you in a stock sidey........:D

What you mean go to Eravate, pop other sidies, block anyone who might be a challenge and then combat log if things get tough?

Sure why not, i will make it later.

High end FDEV endorsed PVP!

I don't play for the "risk" or the "challenge". I play to relax after a long day's work and enjoy spaceflight with like-minded space nerds, and slaughter large numbers of hapless wanted NPCs. It's irritating that a tiny subset of the player base has to repeatedly attempt to ruin it for the majority.

I get that some people want things to be more difficult because they don't get enough challenge at work or school, but frankly I like winning, even if it's laughably easy. I don't like sweating every time a hollow blip on the radar makes a beeline for me in supercruise. That's not fun. That's stress. Sure, I'm not really in danger in my bigger or faster ships, unless it's a kill-squad, but I'd rather avoid the risk altogether. Plus, I get absolutely nothing out of fighting another player. All stress and hassle and no real fun.

Solo really isn't an option for me since it feels dead without other folks there. It's nice just to see another non-hostile player out there, even if only to exchange a simple o7. Sure, I play in Mobius PvE, but the player density is so low it may as well be Solo. So my only option is to play in Open and get tense every time someone flying something dangerous comes within interdiction range.

Wait wait wait, according to some forum members Mobius is more populated than OPEN, and open is a desert.

Interesting...

Here's my solution;

Combat Logging Solution .

Or in case you're too last it click... :p

That idea doesnt really cover PvE combat logging, it would be very nice if the entire instance could somehow be recreated when you reconnect.
That'd be a huge QoL feature for those random disconnects, and it'd make the galaxy feel a bit more persistent.

Enjoy!

The only problem with that is the potential it has for giving somebody in combat chance for a "do-over".

In my experience, the game is most likely to go wrong during transitions.
So, I get interdicted, I submit, I've already got a high-wake destination selected, I hit the jump button, the countdown completes and...."Transaction Server Error"
I restart the game and I'm back where I was and my attacker potentially has another chance to destroy my ship.

Not keen on that possibility but it's probably not terribly likely.
Add in the possibility of deliberate P2P shenanigans, though, and it becomes more unpleasant.
An attacker could, theoretically, pull somebody out of SC and then enable some script which rejects P2P requests as soon as their target charges their FSD.
The victim would then, theoretically, be held in combat with their attacker every time they attempted to log back in.

Are these the same forum members who proudly sport their Mobius membership badge in their sig?

Probably, also mobius himself is delusional enough to claim his group is more populated than OPEN and should be made an official game mode. Looks like majority of people actually enjoy PvP, its very exciting.

I think most people do like pvp, but on their own terms. Don't forget that PvP in Elite is the equivalent of a heavyweight boxing champion going around beating up normal people in a shopping centre and saying that if they can't run fast enough, they deserve it. Then what's even funnier is when a regular person realises they have the ability to disappear before getting said beating, the Heavyweight champ feels that THAT is what's unfair in this whole case. looooooool.

It;s ridiculous, and what needs to happen to bring pvp to the right level is either the heavyweight boxers getting nerfed, or the mission runners being able to equip adequate offensive and defensive modules, but still be able to 'play' the game at the same time.

Good find. It's abit unlikely to happen, but it could be solved.

A simple(ish) solution to that is add a check for unreliable P2P connections.
If you disconnect with the same person more than twice, you don't get instanced together when you log in, but you can still only join the same mode.

Or something along those lines.

Anyone caught using such a script should be shadow banned too, as a cheater, if it's even possible to detect, of course.
