The thing is, why engage in higher risk. When you dont HAVE to. And get the same reward.
I just dont think this is very fair. Especially when it comes to pirating. And engagement with other players. There are different levels of skills with each player. Its more in depth than NPC's. With NPC's there is always a basic pattern.
And Sandro did touch on pirating getting a buff today.
But in the end, there really needs to be an incentive for player activity vs NPC activity. People should be rewarded for the higher value of risks. And its not punishing other modes really. Its just merely rewarding people for the levels of risks they are taking.
But at the same time, super easily exploited. Guess its wishful thinking.
So what are the risks YOU experience in Open. It can't be that Mostly Harmless trader in the T6, it definitely isn't any of the NPC fleet (including Authority Ships), it isn't getting slapped with the WANTED tag since some here take that as a badge of honour. There is certainly no risk in flocking to a CG to interdict weaker ships at will, knowing your combat configured behemoth is just about invulnerable to anything else than another dedicated PvP'er (and you won't go after him when there are so many juicy targets just cruising around). And from what I have read in another post, it seems that most of you have umm internet disconnections at the first sign of trouble (that certainly isn't a problem in Solo and PG lol).
The biggest risk for the average player in Open is running into a Commander who thinks the whole Open is his personal playground. And surprise surprise, you normally find these players around the bubble, any known location they know will bring a lot of easy targets.
Have you thought that maybe players don't want to have to combat proof their ship just incase one of you brave 'pirates' - and I use that term loosely - decides they are their next target? Maybe they just want to haul cargo at the maximum allowable limit for their ship, maybe they want to know they can return from a month long exploration and not have to worry about some immature brain-dead idiot waiting to gank them at the first station available then post their bravery in the PvP sub-forum.
Look, I agree that vast majority of players in Open are great, they are playing the game exactly the same as those in Solo and the various PG's. It is that small element who purposely go out of their way to ruin everyone else's experience. And unfortunately there is nothing that can be done presently to remedy this.
