Combat nerf done on false premise about trading being profitable

Likewise I've been playing in open only and frankly I rarely run into players, much less hostile ones. Given the way game mechanics work I don't see why anyone would bother pirating? It seems not to be a profitable venture unless you were pirating NPCs since players have various way to avoid combat, and repair costs from interdictions seem to limit you to doing them in a Cobra...

It would be cool if you could, say, get some credit pirating in someone's space from opposing factions- something like a letter of marque.

Privateering eh? I like it.

That's so wrong it's not funny. Bounties are now better at all levels below T-7 / Clipper. You just need the basic pulse laser and kill steal authorities while kitting up.

Or... Don't? I understand players who complain about an exploit used against them. I will never understand players who complain when they ruin their own game with a cheese tactic or exploit.

Nope, it's not about ED being difficult or combat being difficult. I love combat and I have earned my Cobra pew pewing (trading gave me capital for my first Eagle, right before launch of 1.2) - no small feat using rather bad keyboard and mouse. I just point out that "trading earns too much comparing to others" is too simplistic POV and if that POV was used in case of combat nerf, then it's not correct way to do that (in my opinion).

It is about making early game make more interesting earning wise - ignoring maximizers/completetionists - so it feels bit more balanced. At this point, combat is a king.

Mate i dont min/max anything. I was still making waaaaaay more creds trading in a clipper, on trade routes i just worked out myself from the galaxy map and knowing what types of systems like which goods. Roughly 4 million an hour in a clipper, though that has dropped a bit now as i suspect someone has been updating ol' slopeys benefits trading tool.

Regardless, trading still craps all over any other way of making money if you have half a brain. I take anyone that says they earn 4 mil an hour in RES with a pinch of salt. Sure its possible, but consistent, not at all.

The real point is why do you care so much how people earn their money? As long as trading is most profitable, as it should be, i don't see the problem. No one cares about early game, because its easy. If you want to stay in a cobra/viper, thats your perogative, but its so easy to get out of them its more like a tutorial than real gameplay.
