Common suggestions to improve Elite: Dangerous

How about advertisements for REAL PRODUCTS in the game as another income stream for the developers.
Ads could be worded to fit the game story,
e.g. ads for game controllers could be worded as upgrades to your ship controller - 'Upgrade you ship controls to the Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS'
You could have ads for food & drink:
Redbull - keeps you alert ready to evade that interdiction.
Get a Domino's Pizza delivered to your ship.
There are already ads in the game at stations - you could have a few more inside & outside stations - just make them for real products so the developers get some cash!
More income for the developers means more development of the game.

Such a possibility has been pondered by FD a long while ago; as far as I remember, it was a rather controversial topic among players. Real-world ads can very easily be very, very lame. Caution would be advised for an implementation that doesn't totally destroy all atmosphere.

I agree that it would need to be carefully managed but when you enter a station and there are billboards on the way in - does it matter if its for a fake company or the coke logo?
 
In order to improve the usefulness of the GalaxyMap, I would add to my former idea
It would be good to see the 5 last systems researches we did in the navigation menu of the galaxy map.

Actually, it's only possible to check the allegiance of a system OR his economy, but not both at the same time, it would be great to be able to do that, by instance to be able to find an Anarchy system with a high technology economy.

It would be great to be able to choose to display on the galaxy map the allegiance AND the economy of a system, by instance to be able to find an Anarchy system with a high technology economy.

I would add to that, the possibility to plan our own route on the galaxy map, and not only the more economic or quickliest route.

  • Wing chat should be moved to the right side of the tab menu as people will be using the fleet beacon and other fleet functions more than the chat. (The need to enable or disable FSD slaving quickly can be the difference between missing a SC drop or getting dropped by accident).
  • The trade system needs to be made clearer. It is extremely hard, time consuming and down right confusing to new players to find a profitable trade route without jumping to 10 different systems (while making spread sheets) 1st. (I would like to find and map my own trade routes without the help of some web site). I would not mind to pay for good Trade data that actually helps in a logical and obvious way.
  • Being able to Save a list of jump routes to quickly choose from. (Not having to go in to the star map while jump back and forth doing my trade runs would be very nice).
  • The descriptions and data on ship modules needs to be made clear. (I don't know if Frontier deliberately avoids having actual number data displayed. But the data on things like Shields does not tell players whether buying that 1.6m CR upgrade is of use to there "stock" ship. Or what kind or improvements I'm getting from that Thruster upgrade. I understand trying to avoid the numbers game, but it's always going to be about the numbers in combat or trading).
  • Star map function - Holding "ctrl" and clicking a star should automatically map a rout to that star.
  • Remove the need to scan System security ships. The data on them should be immediate as it never differs.
  • Adding the bounty in brackets in the ship HUD would make many a bounty hunters happy. Wanted (88,720 CR) or even Wanted (89K) :)

New cool stuff


  • Short range FS jump ability. For that binary star systems that's 100 000Ls away from it's primary star. Even if the ability to do so is limited to A and B rated FSDs. (None's got time to Super cruse for >hour).
  • The ability to change the color of ship HUDs without having to change file - Matrix data and what not. (This would be cool but isn't that important).
  • Allow people to scoop cargo from space left there for X amount of time OR was stolen and the criminal was just killed. (Think of it as the added payment of justice).

Thank you Frontier for all the hard work you have put in the game, bringing the wings and other new functionality to life.
Well done to the Sound engineers who made space and all the ships sound amazing, this is probably one of the best sounding games I have ever played.
Well done to the Graphics engineers and all the keyboard smashers writing tones of code and spending weeks on each function and model in the game. Without you this would just be a cool sound track.

There are several dozen, if not hundreds, of fantastic ideas in this thread and it would be amazing if the majority of them were implemented. I agree with those that say bug fixing should have the highest priority but I hope that we do see more and more of these suggestions become reality as bugs get ironed out. I think the person who suggested that they run some sort of voting system for what additions players would most like to see and implement those is a very good idea. Sorry, it's such a long and complex thread that I can't remember who you are but you get my vote for your voting idea

Please keep Elite "dangerous" instead of "overbalanced and fair for everyone". ;)

It would be great to show the station name in the Transaction board for getting bounty prime.
Currently, I've a prime of 22K for "gold general solutions" faction.
I really don't know where is It.

So I'm not able to get my money :(

Make possibility to stack jettisoned cargo up to 5t or 10t and extracted metals/minerals up to 5t for example. It will improve mining a lot and pirating. Instead of 1t from asteroid we would get 1-5t. Small change - big opportunity!!

the idea: you can buy tickets to be transported to another station where another of your ship is docked. The longer the hop, the more you pay. It can be limited to a certain range of LY and only between spaceports of type orbis or beyond.
For the history in the background, you add some PanGal or Virgin Galactic (sponsorship chance here ;-) ) companies that run battlecruiser-sized passenger liners.
 
Dont know of this has been asked elsewhere but no doubt someone will let me know but how about this:

The ability to increase the rating of a system i.e. increase powerplant by 1 on the vulture from 4 to 5, or any system can be increased by only one. This obviosuly comes at a cost which increases the more systems you upgrade. So in effect you could increase every system by one to make a much better ship but the costs would be soo astronomical it would prohibit all but the richest of pilots to even contemplate. The cost of increasing also increase with the higher ratings; so a class 3 to 4 would be twice as expensive say as going from a 2 to 3.
This means that CMDRS have more scope in customising their ships making it a more varied game and my damn vulture can at least have some juice lol.

Probably been said loads of times. My wants are simple.

a. View my ship from outside. (Why bother buying a paint job otherwise)
b. Some method of just having a bit of combat fun now and again. Sometimes I just have 30 minutes free and want a bit of fun. Does it all have to be work!
e.g A 'game' area near a station somewhere where a hit is non-lethal and scores points; or a sandbox version of the training edition for a bit more serious one on one
c. Let me play more than one Commander. e.g. One careful, one risky maybe. (Could charge £10 for the privilege)
d. Let me change my Commanders name - without starting from scratch
