Common suggestions to improve Elite: Dangerous

I'm pretty sure I'm not the first to suggest this, but I've come across a lot of people throughout the community who dislike the fact that some simply decide to "play it safe" and switch to Solo mode, especially during community goals, so I wondered, what if we disabled Community Goals during Solo mode and private groups, and gave every account a second seperate character.

One only for Open Play, with Community Goals enabled, and another seperate character with seperate progress, that is used only for Solo mode and Private group play, with community goals disabled.

I think that'd improve the multiplayer aspect of this game by a lot

I have 2 requests (one may already be available but I've not seen it 'advertised')
1. On first startup there are 2 blank screens, one after the other, which take almost 60 seconds on my substandard system.
Pretty Please put something, anything on these screens so I know not to reboot the system because it has hung. ;).
2. On a Milk Run, the ability to reverse the route (? next way point KeyBind ?).
Thanks In Advance ;)

Lots of nice suggestions, here are a few i did not see on the OP list.

Make orbital object scans use same check as frame shift drive for object obscured.
Not much sense in scanning a tiny rock right through the center of a star or Gas giant.

Remove commodity markeds on smaller outpost and instead expand missions to supply them with a broad number of commodities.

Increase demand prices for specific goods in specific system to increase variability in trading.
currently we are only trading few commodities to maximise profit per trip.

Example: Terraforming systems. increase demand price for following goods.
Power Generators
Atmospheric Processors
Water Purifiers
Land Enrichment Systems

Increase profits to perhaps 1100 -1400 per ton (remember return trip yild low profits)

Add a Captains log.
Logging star system visited, ports visited, system scanned, enemy destroyed, rank progression, outftitting changes, ships bought and sold.
Ship destroyed, enemies destroyed etc.

Yes please, this is my 'return trip pay the fuel load' ;)

AFAIK, clan mechanics will not get incorporated, ED is all about solitude - you and your space ship.
I believe "wings" mechanic is as far they'll go with gathering multiple players at the same time.

If this is true this game just got a whole lot less interesting to me and my friends.

Longer term:
We are hoping it gets a bit more like eve and a bit more like freelancer and a bit more like the X games all in one then takes all and improves on them.
If this is only ever going to be what it is now with a few extra ships and station designs (how it looks baed on the networking model) ?I will be seriously disappointed.

My point being:
I am prepared to pay a monthly sub to see more from ED as I want to see something like eve with less of a "spreadsheets online" type feel or freelancer with more of that MMO experience.

Are you saying that this is not the plan for ED?

I really should have posted this in here:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=135032

I realize now that I was wrong, and much of this has been suggested already, but hey ... i'm adding my +1 to this where already suggested.

FYI:
Making some of this may require removal of the p2p networking instead using servers, I would be more than happy to pay a sub for a new hybrid elite, eve, freelancer, X style game that did even half of this stuff.

Also:
Being a hobby game developer myself I have come to the conclusion that writing code is not the biggest time sync it's the content generation that kills dev teams time, if the devs put up competitions to do things like design a station or allowed player built stations in the galaxy the game would basically populate itself and gather more interest at the same time.

This is why blizzard does so well, they have a massive pot of cash they can poor in to hiring people to make content.

With a galaxy this big the more players we get working together the more the galaxy will evolve.

That would be a big shame IMO.
It's such a great starting point for what could be an epic "galaxy sandbox" and they clearly have the data space, I guess the trick is managing all that interaction with network bandwidth.

Sensor settings.

Add a function, either check box or toggle button that allows players to have the setting of their sensor, when in normal space, remembered.

Since Drones are on the horizon...

Here's an idea.
The drones will have the capabilities to harvest cargo containers and mining fragments and that's a boon! But..

How about the option to weaponize drones? A player could go to the outfitter and purchase some basic drones, but have the option to upgrade them or even download their combat skillset into the drone. This option would keep them a consumable item and allow for varying levels of skill. They could be given basic commands such as "protect me, attack my target, and so-on". So if I'm hauling around some rare cargo and I get interdicted, I could go to my cargo-hatch, deploy my drones and say "Bring it!"

Yeh this comes back to my idea about doing the same with upgradeable ship computers.
If the game is really about getting out there in the void on your own, then going out kitted up is definitely the way to go ... so why not kit up multiple ships and remote control the others by use of simple commands like "follow me" and "collect stuff", or "go to x location".

If you could do that with a ship, mining could be much easier, program a hauler to follow you and collect what you mine and a fighter or 2 with combat drones to play defense on your mining op.

Then ...
Make stuff dangerous!

I've suggested this in a different thread and people seemed to be really excited by the idea. A Bounty broker in the Contacts section. For a fee, say, between 5% and 25%, they will pick up the bounty for you. This way, you wouldn't have to travel to some distant backwater system to pick up the 1200 credits the People's Purple Unicorn Party owe you for warrant scanning some lowly Sidewinder in an RES. My transactions tab is simply cluttered with crap bounties I can't be bothered to pick up, because they don't even cover the fuel cost to fly there.

This should only work for independent system bounties, however. The big faction awarded bounties are no issue, as you can already pick them up anywhere.

Alternatively, people have also suggested that an option to discard bounties would work as well.

Really, Really good idea! a number of times i got a great Bounty, but i did not have the fuel to get to where i could cash in on it.

Ah that makes more sense ...
Time for a ship upgrade ... with your bounty you can't claim lol!!!

I wonder if the issue here is less that I have a bounty I can't claim but more "I can't put this to one side until I can claim it later", the ui to me feels very "messy" with no means to organise things.
Others it seems would rather drop the money offer than store it for later.

Fuel is free with a scoop?
Why so many complaints about fuel pricing?

It was just a figure of speech to better highlight how low the value of these bounties is. Obviously, the main gripe here is with the time wasted going around dozens of star systems, which are sometimes quite far apart, docking, claiming, then launching again. I always use a fuel scoop.

I once bought a sidewinder and on purpose crashed it into the wall of the station just to clear my transactions tab. :)

This to me is why I requested that money based transactions could be done "wirelessly" and anywhere ... we can do that today so why not in the 3300's ?

Or at least allow a system based on trading within regions / per faction ... so if i dock at a Federation station I would get access to the entire federation trade network.
