Community/player created races

This has probably been discussed before, and I am aware that the community hosts unofficial races now and again. But I do think it would be really cool to be able to create races on planets. For example using the fly-through-rings used in the flying tutorial. It wouldnt necessarily need to be multiplayer, but rather leaderboard focused. Different races exists on different planets, possibly created by both frontier and players. These should be searchable and filterable from the map, being able to find the coordinates, the most popular racing tracks, and see how other commanders has performed.
Generally, I would really like for there to be more opportunities for the community to create content, helping shape the universe. Obviously alot of considerations to be made, especially making this space-sim-friendly. This game has so much potential. Just had to post it after flying through the coolest ing canyon the other day.

Racing would indeed be a easy win for Frontier. I don't think player created tracks are feasible though, but almost every racing game relies on fixed circuits so that's not an issue.

It would be nice if the point of the game wasn't just to build a ship, fine tune it and then kill things we kind of dune that so so so Meany times its old hat.

I completely misunderstood the title of this thread.

@DrunkenPadawan Frontier's Tom Kewell (who's had a lot to do with SRV development among other things) did make a very informal new year resolution on twitter to get racing into the game. Obviously prioritising what gets worked on is probably not up to him but it's at least interesting to know that these things are on the their minds.

If you're interested, @Alec Turner will probably also provide you with a discord link.
If you scroll to the bottom of the front page on Buckyball Racing Club website that was linked you'll find the discord invite.

I think we're currently trying to find the inspiration/motivation to plan a 3309 championship race series like we did last year but nothing's really started to come together yet and a lot of folks are busy doing their own things in-game at the moment. Still plenty of time tho.
