ANNOUNCEMENT Community Update - January 3306

Thanks for the update!

I'm glad that Fleet carriers has not been lumped into New Era, and that its a distinct update on its own. Being cheeky, are the first patches (14 Jan, Mar - April (est) bug fixers, and the FC update a bias towards content (i.e. we get carriers + other features / balancing)?

Also, I'm assuming New Era will need a beta- considering its scope will this be broken into chunks (i.e. multiple betas for various areas)?

Hi Steve, sorry but this is not clear at all :) Does this mean no CG and no II until when exactly? Until FCs are released (supposedly end of Q2)? Or until the new season (supposedly end of Q4)?

Thanks
@Redden Alt-Mer,

Right now, both Community Goals and Interstellar Initiatives are on hold for the moment. We don't have a date on when they will return, but if there are any updates we'll let the community know.

Thanks

Linking back to previous posts is ok I guess, but since the time they were posted, are you NOT able to give a much clearer better update than this?

Greetings Commanders,

Happy New Year!

As we enter 3306, we would like to tell you about the next update coming to Elite Dangerous!

Thanks to all the commanders who joined in the beta back in November, we're happy to announce that the January Update will be launching on the 14 January! As we mentioned back in October, the first half of this year's updates will be focused almost exclusively on Fleet Carriers and fixing as many high priority bugs and issues as possible, ensuring that the game runs as smooth as a freshly-purchased Cobra MkIII. To be clear, this means that Interstellar Initiatives/Community Goals will be on hold while we focus on the subsequent series of updates and betas that will be coming over the following months.

Much like the January Update, these updates will be accompanied by an open beta, allowing commanders to jump in and see the content before it's released, as well as help us identify any major issues or bugs. We'll be providing more details about all of these updates in the near future, so keep an eye on all of our usual channels.

The team are hard at work on the next major milestone coming to Elite Dangerous at the latter end of this year and, as also mentioned in the previous post, we'll be ready to start revealing more about this after the Fleet Carriers update. We know you're keen to hear more, and we're excited to be able to show you what's to come!

Hi Stephen, quick question - can you confirm if the proposed trial exploration changes (for planet scans) are going into this update?

Hi Stephen, quick question - can you confirm if the proposed trial exploration changes (for planet scans) are going into this update?

Sincerely hope the answer to that is a hard no - or at least they came to a compromise solution - I didn't like losing the immediate info we currently get on the number of PoI's on a planet surface.

Hooray for everything. \o/

Flimley
Hooray for CGs and Interstellar...
Oh.

Hey @Rubbernuke,

Similarly to what we've done with the January Update beta, all details and instructions for future betas will be published closer to the time of the specific beta.

Nice to hear that, Stephen!

The Russian-speaking community as well as everyone has long been waiting for significant bug fixes and even more - fleet carriers. We hope that pauses with CG and II are just a temporary need and they will not last long. We will follow the situation! :)

With respect,
Antony
