Console Copy Portal: Queue Times

I did the console transfer!! (I was gonna leave it another week, but got excited by GeForce Now to play it on crap laptop)
Took less than 4 minutes on work PC for transfer, but couldn't download and run there due to security/firewall etc.....
What is excruciatingly slow is Installing on the Frontier site - at home now I have super-fast Broadband but getting just 1.14MB/s with 3 hr est time , thats 8Mb/s and I'm like on 60Mb/s broadband!!!! never seen such .....

AND This is just the base game, I still have 3.8 and 4.0 to go - maybe I will spend (waste?) the whole bank holiday just installing/syncing < big yawn>
.....................................<going to pub now> much better use of time!!!!

it just dipped to 0.8MB/s with 5hr wait OMFG!!!!!

Off topic i know, but;
60Mbps is super fast to you? 🤦‍♂️
Sorry, but many places in North America are already offering +2.5Gbps in areas with full Fiber.
I have 1.0Gbps on Coax Cable, and it can still take upto an hour to fully reinstall ED.o at 69GB total, depending on other network traffic both in my own network and my local neighborhood.

60Mbps is smack in the middle of DSL, one step above dial up, and one step below actual Broadband, so you may be on a broadband network but not getting that service, your getting DSL speeds at best.

Time to change ISP to starlink.
But 60Mbps, is not super-fast, jus to be clear, so expect extreme download times on things this large, and slow down during peak hours...

The transfer for ED profiles, happens on Fdev side, so your network speed is irrelevant.

I did the PS4 console copy 4 days ago. Got the confirmation that it is complete. When I tried to logon using the NEW account I transferred to, it said I had to buy the game. I thought we would get ED Horizons free as part of the migration. Submitted a support ticket 4 days ago, and zero response.

Would really love to get my PS4 CMDR back up and action on my PC as soon as possible.

Try going here;

And login with the account you copied your profile over too.

When it logs in, you should see two things in a table of information;
a FID(Frontier ID)
And the last thing in the table should say Platform and then Frontier

If you don't see both the ID and Platform, then that's not the account you transferred your profile too and recieved a copy of ED.H on.

If you do see both, and still can't login in the launcher, go to the Partner Keys section and redeem the keys to get your copy thru Steam instead if you don't want to wait for support.
You could also try uninstalling and reinstalling the launcher :/ if you want to see if maybe it's just stuck or somthing, but only do that if you've confirmed in the account portal that's the correct account

Addon: you should be able to link to an existing steam account that owns ED aswell, from that user portal, if you have that option, anyone, jus fyi

Only on ADSL here no fibre yet. Meant Unlimited broadband not superfast.

Greetings Commanders,

Due to the overwhelming number of Commanders accessing the Console Copy Portal and the scale of data being transferred, wait times can be up to 5hrs for the copy process to complete.

Please bear in mind that you will not be able to play Elite Dangerous whilst the copy process is taking place.

You will also be unable to log in to any frontier services while the process is happening: that includes the User Portal, ARX Store and DLC Store.

This is a monumental moment! Thank you for your patience.
We're so excited to see you all soon!

I will be starting the transfer soon. However I have a question. You are giving away a free copy of elite dangerous, which is great for players transferring from console.

I , like many other console players already have a pc with elite dangerous that I bought at full price.

What do we get for transferring over? Discount on purchase of Odyssey perhaps?

Just asking

Bought EDH on console > gets free equivalent game on PC. Pretty generous.

After that you get......what every other PC person gets access too.
I already have horizons on pc. Which i bought a few years ago, but started playing on Xbox one X as it was more convenient at the time and was more powerful than my pc. I bought a copy on there too thinking that this was future proof....
I have played elite for years. When it first came out.

I don't honestly see what you expect to get. FD have given a free game which is equivalent to what is on console right now. Since EDO is not on console, what did you think FD would do?

To me its no different to FD giving away free copies of ED when I bought ED full price.

In short you get nothing new, because, why would you be entitled to anything more?

I'm not saying I'm entitled to anything. Your not getting my point. Console players who don't have a copy are getting compensated . All I am saying is that it would be a nice gesture of an equivalent was given to the console players who already have a copy of horizons on pc.

I get your point fine, I just don't agree with it. Like I said above, I've bought ED full price and EDs been given away for free later- do I get anything to compensate for that? The line has to be drawn somewhere otherwise FD will be forever prostrating.

In any case, the 'value' of the transfer proposition is not in the copy of the game itself, its being able to copy your commander across platform. The free EDH is almost incidental and the 'bonus'.

All console commanders get the same benefits when transferring:
  • a copy of their progress from console to pc (including basically everything from cosmetics to game progress with the sole exception of Carrier and Carrier content)
  • the possibility to continue playing on their console account
  • a free copy of Horizons if they transfer to a new account

It's not their "fault" that you chose not to benefit from the free account nor their obligation to compensate you for what is essentially a gesture of good will (the provision of a free copy of Horizons)
