"Console development continues behind the scenes with an Autumn release still on schedule"

There is absolutely a requirement. It's not just a console specific issue either. What about the people - myself included - who pre-ordered the Odyssey DLC for PC?

We deserve to know what constitutes that DLC being 'fixed' / 'brought up to snuff' (in the words of Frontier).

Granted, the lack of clarity around this matter does cloud apperception of the console release, as it's apparently a pre-requisite, but it's not specific to it, and that lack of information is ... baffling.

this is exactly it.
while my main progress is on Xbox I also play on PC from time to time.

None of what's occurred sits well and going into 2022, I did expect a state of the game update specific to consoles. That touches on what Obsidian Ant and others continue to point out. Just a lack of communication to the current customer base.

Do not expect any FDev info on any topic before mid january. It's a company like every company. They are currently getting back to get thing running after the holiday season. I am myself still on vacation. So do many of the FDev employees, I would guess.

As for EDO news: I give up hope on it and do some RL fun.... so I'll come back after ED did collect some dust and some forum members who insulted others personally (requiring mod wipes - I did not forget, who it was...) have left the topic... Still funny, why they are still allowed to post here, after so many wiped hatespeeches.... See ya later these days.

Still: No Arx for FDev before any re-comfirmation about the state of development & re-asuring that it is still on track. Won't feed a dead horse if it is going to be abandoned. Rather gonna buy a nice e-bike instead.

Happy new year mate.

Nope. Still not.

From a console perspective - the DLC does not exist and it does not have a launch date either. And FD does not need to do anything about it. When they will have the product ready, they will announce it.

From a PC perspective: if you have EDO, you can see it from yourself.

For example: from my personal point of view, EDO is running good enough for me on my gaming laptop (ryzen 5 5900hx, rtx3080/16gb, 32gb ram) in 1080p with all settings maxed out. I can even dual log 2 instances at the same time and it still runs good.
But i do have a rather strong gaming laptop. Someone running a potato computer might not be as happy. And someone running a pc with the minimum specs of Horizons might not be able to run EDO in any way that can be called gaming.

Frontier are yet to define or quantify in any what at all what "fixing Odyssey on PC" consists of.

Just to confirm, that's what you're arguing against?:whistle:
I disagree. They released a premium priced DLC and have admitted that it "needs fixing" and should therefore be able to describe to paying customers (and paying-customers-in-waiting, i.e. those who've invested hours and money into the console version of Elite Dangerous, the live service) in relatively general terms what 'fixed' means. In my opinion, that should be the foundation of any future communication strategy for Odyssey. The bare minimum.

However, if you're happy, that's great for you.

!!!!!!! Soon, maybe !!

Half year reporting came out for frontier and nowhere did they even MENTION Elite due to be released on console in the coming year. If you thought that the shareholders might be given a whiff of good news that Odyssey is gonna be there soon to get more profit, you'd be wrong. Nothing there folks.

Not good news.

Crap, do they even care about console players ? Like seriously, crap or get off the pot.Quite jerking us around and just tell us, is it coming or not . @ David Braben

I did love the quote they used:-

'Elite Dangerous experienced a difficult calendar 2021 following the disappointing launch of the major Odyssey expansion in May 2021. We continue to support the game and our passionate players with development updates, and we have seen an upturn in player sentiment as a result'

dripping with contempt.

Let's hope that the next development update (due circa two weeks from now by my reckoning) goes someway to addressing console absence from the December's end-of-year update and this half year update.

I doubt it, it will be the same cut and paste statement we've been fed for the last 6 + months (prove me wrong ,F-DEV)

Okey, there was a statement that elite is on every plattform available, perhaps this a little hope glimpes. But yeah it’s a valid point to complain about missing information about consoles in this report, especially when they pointed out the release of EDO on pc.

but for now it’s pure specualation.

two ways are possible,

first one they sells elite as an third party game (was mentioned that it hit all plattform)
And there given statement ,,more players will change to EDO,, includes the consoles

or

the console future is still not a closed thing, and there are no future plans at the moment.

anyway, some clearification is urgendly needed

I'm probably a bit cynical, but that statement stays true if they continue support for EDH. It doesn't necessarily mean that they will ever port EDO to console. The glimmer of hope could be that there are apparently no plans of shutting down EDH just yet.

Indeed,

but it’s seems to be, that they see elite as an Multiplattform game, and reference it in general. So, the financial report is not clear in this way as expected. As I mentioned there are two possible ways in my opinion. My favorite is the second one, after the annual report.

But, here are some thoughts, elite seems to run on consoles meanwhile in a Mysterious Odyssee compatible mode, then the effort for the HRZN only update, could mean preparation for the release (not soon) or to hold HRZN on the line to calm down the consoles till they have a conclusion.

who knows, only a few people on Fdev perhaps. Till then pure speculation

and again, some thoughts of one of the greater content creator
Ps: I know it’s a Q&A but still interesting. Perhaps it would make sense to read the comments, there you have the other console players which are still out there and waiting for some news. As I said before many of them didn’t have the effort to make an account for the forum. So they put they’re thoughts there.

This from @Obsidian Ant is brilliant, it crystalises for his substantial YT audience just what many of us have been saying on here for months:-

"I personally feel Frontier's silence on the subject is absolutely ridiculous.

We know they have put console development on hold I see little reason that they cannot give an update on this. Of course some people will say "well the update is that they just need to focus on pc until that's ready and go ahead on consoles" but really there's got to be more to it than just that...

After all it's been well over six months since Odyssey released, so it's high time that there was some sort of update on this and I think many console users would certainly appreciate that.

At any rate maybe at some point over the next few months Frontier will finally give an update on this situation...
"
