Console Profile Copy Process | Release Plan

As we approach the opening of the console profile transfer, I want to be sure I have clarity on this one point again:

Upon initiation and completion of the console transfer to PC, we will have

1. a copy of our account on console and a copy of our account on PC.

2. both accounts will remain playable.

3. The progress made on either account, upon the transfer, will be exclusive to each platform- progress will not be synchronized across platforms going forward.

Are these three point sound?

You can also, lead a horse to water but
this reading thing will never catch on
Yes, and yes (and I love the sentence unintentionally created by my multi-quote lol)... but I'd also like to very briefly centre the unneccesary and often hidden obstacles for many to doing just that, that are within the control of the communicator (the company). Accessibility matters. Things like, as I mentioned, posting a critical bit of information on the blog but only linking to it on the forum. Even something seemingly irrelevant like the colour scheme and visual design, which in its default state is very difficult to engage with. It often takes me minutes to find the most recent dev post-and I have those minutes-others may not. In today's fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment, where we're so pressured to do the absolute maximum just to get by, no one individual should be blamed for not digging through blogs and forums for information that should be readily available - ideally in-game.

For the "FID" question - from what I've seen, we will have TWO options:

1. Copy Console CMDR onto NEW account with a free Horizons license
2. Copy Console CMDR onto an EXISTING PC account (eg. if you already have an Odyssey license) having first cleared the PC save

Requesting Option 1 will NOT require a PC FID
Requestion Option 2 WILL

But that's been the nature of the beast since day 1 - nay, before day 1. And I'm not having a pop at anyone. Hackneyed quote, but it is what it is, and it probably won't change in regards to Elite, in my opinion. Well, I certainly gave up hope in that years ago!

Credit where due though, whole idea is nice.

So you've only seen one a year ago, under different circumstances (and have forgotten the additional information boxes), so therefore can see a 'difference' with this to something you haven't seen yet. Confusing.

Thankfully Prostetnic Vorgon Jelz isn't an employee of Frontier, and commonsense can be applied to this process, rather than filling in the correct form in triplicate etc.

Unlike some, I don't see the drama here, and very little cause for concern. It'll just take longer than some would like. Probably. And I doubt that customer service will be overrun, as how many will actually use this feature? Tens of...
Poetic prose & Douglas Adams references aside, the Wealth Transfer via Customer Support and the Console Profile Transfer are separate processes, hence Fdev testing the new transfer process over the last week and announcing its launch tomorrow.

There's literally a Post on the News section called Console Copy Portal Opens Tomorrow

Thank you, I had not received a notification that a new dev post had been posted. Again, thank you for the link! o7

This was posted 40 minutes ago.... well after the annoucement was made on the blog and other users were asking about it here. So, good, but less than ideal and certainly not warranting the sarcasm towards someone who clearly didn't see it...

You continue to state falsehoods based upon a presumption and you haven't grasped at all what I have said. Use bold and patronise as much as you like.

They are not in fact separate processes, merely different formatting. The method of transport doesn't matter provided the destination is reached. Provided all the information needed is supplied (and the Wealth Transfer form - which actually is not just that - gives ample space to do this).

Do you get it yet?

Not sure where he is wrong ?
The wealth transfer via customer support is the old one you sell all your stuff it get your credits only moved over to PC where you have no ranks no ships no engineers . A clean blank slate .
The portal which opens tomorrow see Sally's post will do a one off copy of your console commander :- ships( not FC) ranks engineers and engineered modules that you hold on the day of transfer .
Both don't give you the same result .

But you haven't proved they don't give the same result. I think they will, given I have provided all the information they need. I'm not thinking linear; I'm thinking how information is likely shared in this case.

I think I explained how they will give the same result, as the information (plus extra added in the space provided on the 'Wealth' form) will go ultimately to the same place/department, thanks to customer service, who have proved their flexibility in the past. Hence my point about Vorgon Jelz.

If what I am saying is not true, then I will not receive a copied account. Yet, I'm confident I will - albeit this might delay the process (I don't care) Why do you think this is?

Can I explain any more? It's an exchange of information. The information probably more important than the means, right? I'm sorry, it just seems obvious to me, and I doubt this portal is akin to something on a par with Gozer and Zuul etc.

I'm really not sure exactly what I'd need luck with!

Why does it have to be done tomorrow? And how many seconds does it take to forward an email to the correct department, something most customer services are only happy to do??

If they are indeed busy, it proves that others are doing what I did (before the portal was announced, may I add - not after). But Elite Dangerous isn't exactly a popular game amongst PS4 players really, so that would be a surprise. I guess busy is a relative term.

As it is likely to be at least a semi-automated process for the copy I would suggest that your perception that these two distinct processes is in error. There is unlikely to be any pass on to another department to deal with when you haven’t been bothered to follow the best current process.

Honestly just put people who try to get in early at the back of the line

They said the 12

Today is the 12th, as was advertised, and I did this before the portal was announced. Not after.

And that's your opinion Tomh, and let's see if you're correct. Clearly you've got lots of customer service experience to back this up. And I don't get your point about being bothered when the portal option wasn't mentioned. It was the only current process when I completed the form earlier today.

This forum is still the same sadly - people wading in when they haven't bothered to read the background. Nasty tone is a bit sad, but hey, if you makes you feel right go ahead.

Hopefully they'll get all the contacts from people trying to queue jump - wait 5 days then give them the link to the tool. Or do what they ask and only move the credits 😈
Queue jump lol. As if. How many will be trying that?

And I know what I asked for. And the form isn't only credits.

But what you say would be extremely pedantic, and what would be the point of that? Justice for???
