Console Profile Transfers: FAQ and Expected Date

Could it be possible to add a package on console that allows you to purchase an Odyssey cosmetics pack so that way people don't use as many arx?

I played console for a long time, I made triple elite and nearly out both empire and federation reps. I was excited for odyssey and saw early on that it would never come to console. So I bought a pc copy of the game to play odyssey and I love it. However I now have 2 cmdrs, the PS4 Cmdr and the pc Cmdr, my pc Cmdr has a lot of built up assets but I would like my PS4 Cmdr to be my main. Will I be able to merge the pc Cmdr assets with the copied PS4 Cmdr? I really don't want to delete the pc account. But want to have my PS4 progress copied over. Is this possible?

I’m in exactly the same boat! Policy is that no merge is possible.

I do want to know if the following is possible - haven’t seen a definitive statement from FDEV so will be asking when the transfer mechanism becomes available:

- Liquidate PC CMDR assets and add the resulting credits to PlayStation CMDR.
(This is the OLD transfer process)

- Clear save on PC CMDR

- Full transfer of PlayStation CMDR to PC (New console transfer process)

If they can do the above, I would still lose the ships, engineered modules, materials, etc from my PC CMDR - and my limited Odyssey progress - but would avoid losing the approx. 2 Billion credits I manually transferred to my PC CMDR via my Fleet Carrier (for which I no longer have funds to buy a new one in order to reverse the process!)

If you can't do it I will help you get the credits for your carrier. Some of these CGs recently have been gold mines but we can also do wing mining and wing missions to get your credit balance up.

Cheers … I’d have to dig out the kids PS4, I guess! Let’s see what happens when the service finally arrives. One way or another I should at least be back up and running on PC afterwards - even if it’s only with 3.5 billion.

Seems like a fair bit of hassle. We can get you the FC credits pretty easy on your Ody account.

Any chance to get the pc copies of the game rolled out before the console transfer happens?
I plan on transferring my console profile to a new account on pc but I already purchased the game and horizons from the Xbox store and would love to be able to have a little stroll around odissey while waiting for my cmdr to get fully transferred.
edit: corrected eye sore spelling

You can buy a copy of EDO on pc. I've had one for a while now that will get overwritten when the transfer comes. It does mean you won't get a free copy and if you don't have a carrier you might need to figure some way of getting resources back to your main.
Of course September is looming now so it might not have that much value at this point.

Well this post has just clear up any lingering concerns I may have had about the transfer process 👍

Managed to get myself a rather nice PC thanks to a tasty little tax rebate, so my only remaining questions are WHEN in September?
And WHERE do I actually go to request the transfer?

I’ll be the first one in that queue so I’m just gonna go back to making anime replicas in Space Engineers while I wait 😂

Yes, I am aware im not getting ody, thats not what i was asking for, and yes i do own ody on pc, and for what horizons is sold on cdkeys its not even worth the wait. Got both for under 15 smackeroons (gbp). So no i could not wait, and yes, my s***y laptop (2014 build i7 integrated graphics) can run ody albeit at a very questionable quality.
I got myself a brand new badass rig to play odyssey. Thinking that tranfer might not be needed after all for me as my xbox acc can supply for both. Yes i own a carrier, v6f-loy, check it out, regularly purchases large amounts of tritium at a very competitive 150-200% galactic average rate for the ones that need the nicer payouts or just a quick cash up.

I'm still hopeful that once the devs sort out Odyssey, they change their minds about console development and the general direction the game is going...

Whether the core team comes back to console development, they hire and train a secondary team to focus on consoles or even if they take a leaf out of Kerbal Space Program and Stellaris' books and hire third party companies to port Elite to consoles from now on, if we get the new content, we don't mind THAT much about having to wait for it...

Of course we want the entire game, including Odyssey with full dev support on the "next gen" consoles, with whatever they can get to work on the older consoles (and PC version 3.8 for that matter)...

In terms of the direction the game is going, I'm sure most of us want more ship and space based content, say a minimum of six new ships, though hopefully twelve plus, across all ship classes and sizes, new weapons and modules etc...

In particular more to do "out in the black" and more interesting and diverse things to find out there and in the game in general...

Lastly cross play would be a big bonus, say between PS5, Series X and PC 4.0, with PS4, Xbox One and PC 3.8 playing together separately, if not letting us all play together, if they can optimise Odyssey enough to make the entire game run well on "last gen".

All in, I want the game to be as good as it could be and let everybody play the best version of it on their systems of choice :D .

I don't have a powerful enough PC to play Elite, while I don't want to play it or 99% of my games on PC, I want to play them on my family of systems of choice, Playstation :O .

Another question:

For those CMDRs like myself, with both PC and Console accounts that would prefer to retain them both, how will the free horizons account work; will it require a log-in/log-off from within the current Steam-based application or will a second F-DEV launcher be provided (making possible having both accounts in the cockpit simultaneously).

Further, will it requires two purchases of Odyssey to have each on space legs?

I dont know if its been answered or not yet but will the Xbox game preview program decal carry over during the transfer?

With respect I think you are fooling yourself if you think that is going to happen. September is it?

September?!

While I'm not betting my house on it, companies do change their minds, while if the devs get on top of Odyssey soon, that might well help them change their minds...

However the biggest factor MIGHT be the fact that David Braben has moved sideways in the company, with at least one new hire in their senior staff - those changes might affect nothing we see in the game, though you never know...

All in, there are still a lot of us "out in the cold", and I'm just as said hoping for some positive news on the console front! :D .

Bruce thank you for the in-depth answers you have given and taking the time to answer so many questions. I am so excited about this and September can not get here fast enough lol.
Good afternoon I hope you are doing well. I wanted to follow up with you to see if there is a confirmed date in September for the console transfers to PC? I am very anxious as I am looking forward to playing it all on my PC and possibly streaming it as well. Have a great day sir o7!
