Console Profile Transfers: FAQ and Expected Date

This doesn't exactly help with console players who were playing on Games Pass. They removed Elite Dangerous as of yesterday, and your console transfer requires
"Your FID can be found in the bottom left-hand corner of the Elite Dangerous main menu on your original platform of choice."
But, without it being on Games Pass, I have to purchase a copy of the game to get that.

I don't envy your position, getting into PC gaming from a standing start is pretty complicated (and expensive), there are so many choices of hardware.

If you are looking for some advice on what PC hardware to buy ask in the PC section of this forum & there will be plenty who can help you to decide what to get. In general you get what you pay for - a cheap PC will not run games as well as a more expensive one, the trick is knowing where to prioritise the money and how much performance is enough for now, and for however long you hope to keep the thing for before upgrading again. Console life is considerably less complicated, just plug it in & play :D
I was looking into the steam deck option until I can afford a better set up. Heard good things about it running EDO, only bad thing I've really heard was you get a large FPS drop in CZ's but still playable, not that bothered about this despite being Elite in combat I've never really enjoyed it

my only concern is that it may not be possible to get your FC into a decommissioning system. As noted above, many sytems are clogged with carriers; even the ones that are being decommissioned just seem to loiter there forever and never actually disappear. If you are required to empty and decom your FC prior to transfer, the transfer window could stretch for months simply based on the wait time to decom.

I am on XBOX and honestly just read about this Console to PC transfer in an article about Odyssey coming to console has officially been canceled.
What I can't find is a Step by Step process to move from XBOX to PC, I thought I read on Frontiers website that I could buy the game through them, Steam or Epic, is the process the same for all?

How soon can I start this process, I believe I saw a September 13th, but don't want to miss the window.

Is that Fdevs final solution? Cause in the first post of this thread, they promised to update us when they had the solution ready. And a post on Reddit made by one of the testers hints at the possibility that the carrier is scrapped and refunded automatically during the transfer.

It is the latest official word as posted in the forum, testing is testing not everything tested works well enough to get released.

You dont qualify for transfers if you were a Game Pass commander.
You need to buy the game to be eligible for transfers (and the free copy of horizons on PC)

Not true.
I am playing Elite Dangerous on Xbox Gamepass. Will I be able to copy my Commander to PC and play there?

The process will recognise and copy across valid game licences. If you have not purchased Elite Dangerous on Xbox, you will be able to Copy your save to a new PC account, but will not have a licence to copy across; which means that you will need to purchase the game on PC to be able to launch Elite and access the copied profile.

If you are copying your Game Pass profile to an existing PC account that has a licence for Horizons/Odyssey; those licences are retained and you will be able to continue playing with the console profile on PC.

As stated above - if you had gamepass you need to buy your own copy of the game.

Guy you're responding to is making bad assumptions about FID, not sure where they pulled that from, but we are nearing peak forum doom-lording :)

Not true.

That's what i said tho. They need to buy the game to be eligible for transfers.

Regarding the fid, yea no idea where this came from, but it may be one of the things they will ask when doing transfers (it's being asked on support tickets - or at least on some of them)

Do you have a link to this?
First I've heard of carriers getting scrapped by anything.

Well, if by scrapped means that on the source account the carrier stays, but on the destination account one get the refund value of the carrier, that would be marvelous

If by scrapped means the source account is losing the carrier and gets refunded - with then the funds being replicated to the copy account... then it's not that nice, and not different than me decommissioning the carrier before ordering the transfer (just it will save less tech savy cmdrs of the hassle of decommissioning the carrier by themselves)
