Nothing to be concerned about, it will be shelved sooner or later - probably at the end of next year, all games die, this one is no different.

My response, that you picked up on, was to a post that was misleading... Deliberately so, for dramatic effect, as it is obvious that the game and its features remain, tonight, exactly as they did this afternoon.

Now we actually know that EDO will not be developed for consoles, something that was expected by many, solely due to how poorly the optimisation of the DLC has been going.

I don't think they chose the easy way, that wouldn't make sense. I mean, they haven't made a lot of sense in the past couple of months anyway, but I'm sure they tried everything they could to get EDO on consoles and this is the last resort. It makes more sense for a company to provide an Update for the revenue and player base it generates. Everything leading up to the release of EDO was that consoles would be included. Whatever the problem is, whether bad code, bad design, whatever...I'm sure they tried to get past it so as to expand their community. Well, it didn't work and here we are. Hopefully, they'll be able to re-evaluate in a couple of years once they get PC stable and will think about consoles again.

Decision made for the long-term future? I wonder if that's simply saying that they will keep the game the alive but any major DLCs are probably no longer being considered.

Do you remember that game, that was released almost 9 years ago, at the end of the Xbox 360 / PlayStation 3 era? A year later, that game was released on Xbox One / PlayStation 4 and people just transfer their progress to the new version. Later, that game was released on PC.
In 2022, that very same game will be released on Xbox Series X / PlayStation 5 and people will transfer their progress (and everything bought for real money) once again to the new version.
Multi platform releases and long term support can be such a struggle.
If I only could remember the name of that game ...

I’m ready to by a laptop (don’t have the room for a p.c) If frontier are able to move my save over as is, I’ll happily overwrite my almost never used kickstarter pc commander account. I don’t have the inclination to start over, material gathering for ships, ranks in the fed and imp navy, engineers in the bubble and colonia, not to mention the many engineered ships, my fleet carrier and the billions tucked away in it for a rainy day! Like so many, I have 5000 in game hours played, as you can imagine, to have it all lost and find myself back in a Sidewinder doesn’t bare thinking about! I wanted odyssey for the new content and content still to be announced. There’s nothing left in EDH today that I want to do or mostly haven’t done. I’m not looking for a free copy of anything, just copy of my Xbox save to load into when I get a new laptop. I’m hoping this is something you can do and will keep my fingers crossed!

Incredibly sad news. Hours and hours of grind, exploration, expeditions. Kinda thought I’d be playing this for years to come… but I think this is it. The inevitable decline starts here. If FDev can’t support 2 entirely consistent predictable configurations of the new gen consoles, how can they hope to support the myriad PC vs graphics cards vs memory vs OS versions vs other installed 3rd party software. So I reckon this is literally game over.

o7 for the last time and see you in the Starfield…

So glad I got mine GTX 3060Ti / i7-10700 / 16 GB /1Tb Acer Predator (made in Taiwan with 5 year warranty) back in April when it cost only 1350€ for me here in Finland.

I did not wanna pay more for say 3080, because I got used to low FPS and bad graphics at 80´s and 90´s with C64/Nintendo, Atari 520 ST (1987 I got one with 20 games as a 7 years old), Amiga 500 (and CD32), and with Playstation 1, before I got my first PC.

Really sorry for the console owners, I never understood how they could fit more better graphics to 2013 consoles, even before Odyssey announcement.

Hope you all join PC master race, and FD will give you ED:Horizons for free if you own it on console (they have their own store, so no need for even Steam or something).

Thanks for the news David Braben / Frontier. I know it can't have been an easy decision to make but I fully understand and I hope it allows you to move forward with Elite. As a PC player this doesn't directly affect me although I hope you manage to work out a way of transfering console accounts to the PC.

My condolences to all the console players affected by this decision.

That’s the least they could offer. But the fact it wasn’t ready to announce with this bad news should tell you everything about the level of concern and effort they put into console player base.
