Sorry mate! Today must have been a dark day! Thanks, my Linux rig is pretty high end so I'm not worried about performance, at least not with other games I play on it.
I guess I'll wait until a Steam sale and then if I feel like restarting pay the absolute minimum. I do not feel like rewarding this company any more than i have to, perhaps only buying Horizons if still available as I am interested in spaceships, not another FPS. If I want a FPS there are other games which are dedicated to it and do it way, way better.
I just realised why this announcement stung so much. Last night went to bed comfortably in the top 10% of the last Colonia Bridge CG. At work looked on Inara to find I was bordline in/out, got home logged in and found out no gold shiny for me, about 100 tonnes short by Inara's reckoning. Then I saw this thread...
I stopped when I realized I didn't want to get to / stay in the top 10%, so settled for the top 25% and about a billion in profit.
FWIW, on Linux I use a 5.16 kernel and a version of wine-staging that supports esync, on proton that ought to be automatic if you have a 5.16 kernel. I have no proof but a distinct impression that it helps the framerate.
