It's probably good news for Frontier's bottom line; there is a lot of work they won't be doing. It's just not good for their customers.
Much of that work that now isn't required would undoubtedly have involved a lot of optimization that would have made the game a much better experience on PC.
I don't even know why I'm surprised.
I should of expected this out of Frontier.
Now it's Elite that is the scam and not SC or NMS.

So you've played ED for 7 years and will continue to play just not with the new expansion and you feel that FDev has lead you on?

Console servers of ED:Horizons is the same as with PC´s, I have seen many console CMDRS in Horizons system chats.
So console servers will stay on as long as there is ED:Horizons on PC, I would bet.
Commiserations to console players, and to anyone who has enjoyed playing with them. I hope there is some compensation in the form of a free replacement account on PC, and a transfer of their commanders, assets, and progress.
Given that this is expected to relieve a burden on developers, which may result in some capacity being freed up for other enhancements, I do hope that on-foot VR in Odyssey gets another look now.

Sooo, you've been playing since 2015 - seven years ago - and can continue to play just without Odyssey (something you've not paid for), and you think all that's a bigger scam than Star Citizen?
Have you tried playing THAT on a console? (Or a PC? Or... anything?)

As someone who can't get a PC, this hot garbage news, all my preparation for being able to walk around like PC players out the window god damn man
Not gonna lie, I'm super angry at you guys. Letting two entire platforms die is a shame. But now you milked us long enough to drop us. Not only that, you force us to buy a PC if we wanna keep being a part of the journey (hardware is super expensive these days, but hey, doesn't matter, huh?) and you say you don't have anything to announce in terms of transfers for those who could potentially do so? You are looking into ways to do that? You had months of time doing that and now this... Letting us drop, not even offering the slightest solution, instead ripping apart great communities.

Come on dude, you should be holding their feet to the fire. Not excuse their behavior.
That's why Frontier gets away with this stuff. Because they got a cult like fan base who will excuse anything.
Up until a few hours ago I totally respected FDev and thought this is the best game I have ever played, without exception (been playing since '84).

Port it over and test, it doesn't take a large team or even infinite resources. Even reducing graphics resolution would make me happy, I don't require full Hi Res, just keep me immersed.

No doubt. But a game shrinking is not typically indicative of a bright future.
And what happens when the profiles get deleted?
