Is Horizons being shut down on console?
FD caused it to rain though...
Right, but this was in response to his argument that it's unplayable. The fact that it may be abandoned by players, but still fully available, wouldn't be relevant in his hypothetical lawsuit.

As someone who's firmly ensconced in "middle age" and heading towards the tail end of it, I can say that many things have come into my life and then gone again. All things change, and all things end eventually.
When I backed this game initially on Kickstarter, I did so as a Mac player. I'm typing this on a Mac. So its effected me in the past. When the ending of Mac support happened, I was on hiatus from the game, dealing with a new daughter who was quite sickly. When I returned, I was faced with the choice of buying a PC or never playing the game again. I opted to buy a PC. My choice, and I understand not everyone will make the same choice (or can.)
Nonetheless, I know that someday, the curtains will come down on Elite Dangerous as a whole. It might be in a year, as some are predicting here. It might be five years from now. Who knows.
What I do know, is that when it happens I'll be sad. I'll be disappointed that I can no longer play a game that I've invested a lot of time and effort into. And that'll be that. I'll move on to something else, because at the end of the day, despite the time and enjoyment, Elite Dangerous is a computer game, and as such it's a mere drop in my ocean of happiness. My wife. My child. My doggo. My friends. My other hobbies. Other games.
What I WON'T do is throw an ungodly temper tantrum, the likes of which I've seen repeatedly. I won't ragequit the second an announcement is made. I won't immediately jump on here and demand to know why this is being done to me. Threaten legal action if I don't get what I want. Or in the case of some ungodly fools, compare the decision to shutter a computer game with the rise of Nazism and the Holocaust.
I like to think there's more to me than that.

Even if they did, at the point in time they made the statement, it wasn't a lie. That was their intention. Whatever missteps they took between the statement and them trying to fulfill that statement, doesn't change their intention at that point in time. You could say they overpromised and incompetent, but at the time of their statement, they didn't lie to you.

1/3- "oh, that sucks, hope they'll let you transfer your profile"- Good intentions, and thanks, but FDev will absolutely NEVER do this, even though they could because of pure greed.
1/3- "oh, that sucks, well just move on over to PC and start over with all those shiny credits"- Mostly disingenuous, but to the sincere folks, a sincere question: FDev just sucker-punched me in the face, and you want me to PAY them for the privilege of them doing it again in the future? For real?
1/3- cackling and dancing with joy- at least ya'll are honest!!! More than you can say for Lord Braben & Co!

I'm saying the same thing and my XB account still has the most number of hours played (3000+) and the biggest amount of cash spent on cosmetics.
Sure, i have my Steam/Epic accounts, but i'm still attached to my XB account and i still love to play it

EDH on PC will be rolled into EDO. EDH users will play the new version but will not be able to access the on foot EDO content.
It's only a lie if they knew they couldn't do it when they said that. Can you prove that is the case?
Yes but the issue is they threw us under a bus and did not have profile transfers ready or even confirmed.

I don't wish any ill health or animosity towards any one of you. What I don't agree with is the " happens" speech from some PC players. You may have a console as well as a PC and be partially affected by this but you still have an option. For me, my option was removed without warning and it hurts and I won't ever be an equal in sharing in the experience of Odyssey unless I invest money I do not have into a PC.
It may be a blessing in disquise for PC players that console has finally been removed to allow the game to flourish but please have a little decency and respect our frustrations instead of simply rubbing our noses in it. I invested just as much time and money as most of you into the game and I'm feeling pretty hard done by right now that FDev have basically just dumped us with very little remorse or regret. If FDev have any ounce of decency, they'll make this right somehow in aiding console players onto PC if they choose or refund unspent ARX to those who can't or won't.

I am really disappointed with this. I really tried to understand the statement, but sorry, I can't. I do not see why should I play it now; the time to uninstall and forget about Elite Dangerous as arrived.

I'll ask again as you missed it the first time, Is Horizons being shut down on console?
Is it really no warning if the release of Odyssey has been delayed, then delayed indefinitely, then cancelled? I can see some people being surprised, but there has been a LOT of indication things weren't going well.
A 54% drop in stock price in a year is not exactly profitable (unless you are shorting ofc).

Virtually all stocks are quite profitable if you compare current prices with the prices shortly after being publicly listed (3rd of August 2013 for FDev). If FDev were on negative numbers compared to 2016, they'd be an abject failure.

As soon as they can possibly do it- that's what this is all about, !! They want to cut the costs of supporting the console and PC Horizons codebase- server overhead is a big part of that!
If you don't realize that they just pulled the plug on the console game and are calling the priest for last rites for PC Horizons I really don't know what to say....
