Console Update

Has FD said you can not transfer accounts has anybody bothered to ask FD.
Here's the official comment, mate :

fingers crossed for all console cmdr's they'll get it sorted.

Going by what I have seen here, it really seems as if some people must find real life very difficult if they react the same way in face to face situations. I mean by the logic some are displaying here....

Friend: Sure, I'll help you move at the weekend, and we can use my truck.
Person from here: Awesome! Thanks!

Friday afternoon,...

Friend gets into wreck and truck is totalled.

Saturday morning...

Person from here: How dare you do this to me get into a wreck. Liar! You said we would use your truck!

Genuine question here for some of the posters...

What coping skills do you employ to manage disappointment in day to day real life?
We are all grown ups and get on with it / life, reading, playing guitar, ripping the head off it, flicking beans, playing other games, building a shed, enjoying your job, or not, feeding a goldfish, cleaning the house, I could be here all night... escapism is the key for me.
What sort of a question is that? In any day or age.

There are clearly disproportionate emotional reactions here, and I am curious how those people manage more appropriate responses and reactions in in real life.

System maps will soon only be decommissioned fleet carrier and the small amount of fc left is just the small elitist commanders out there.
hey I get it you are peed off. I would be as well (indeed I was when I learned new content would not support vr). As a PC player you have my sympathies but no need to start slagging off pc players just because they can still play .

Plenty of games are PC only Inc that small indie developed title.... Star Citizen. I hope the game will survive tho I too have my doubts. (but not because it's not coming out on PS4)

hopefuy FD will actually throw you guys a bone and give free copies of the pc game and an account transfer.. that will help some but not all.

I am not surprised they can't make it run on last gen. it takes a high end PC to make it run properly, and the vanilla PS4 and esp Xbox one were weak sauce when they launched in ,2013. they are archaic now.

where I think the biggest concern is I believe is that FD do not have enough faith in their product to release a version for the current gen. I am told (I am no coder) they are the same to program for just a lot more powerful so there should not be a huge issue porting over to PS5 Xbox series s/X.

maybe the Xbox 1x or PS4 pro could have coped but neither Sony or MS allow games only for the higher end last gen.

It's a sad and potentially worrying development, which could signal the first nail in the coffin for us all. My deepest sympathies to the console community, I hope you get a good bone from FDev for this!

Forgive the question, as there are 79 pages to read and I may have overlooked this question, if it's already been asked.

What does this mean for the PC community, in the sense of "Pre-Odyssey" and "Post-Odyssey" code base? I am assuming that it doesn't directly mean Horizons and Odyssey, else they would have said so, right?

I haven't bought Odyssey, yet, mainly because my friends/player buddies, who have purchased it, have described it as a mediocre FPS with more mind-numbing grinds. Now, please don't misunderstand me, I enjoy the game. I'm out exploring a lot in Horizons now, out in the black, I haven't felt the "need" to add Odyssey yet as I feel it won't add to my game play. I don't like FPS games, and I'm not bothered about ship interiors.

However, looking at "content areas" and associated permit locked regions such as Barnard's Loop for Thargoids amd Norma's Arm for Guardians, even the permit locked sphere out in The Formidine Rift, it looks like there are many, many, many story lines not yet developed or completed. It appears there are regions waiting to be unlocked to move the story/stories forward, with the game lore of course.

My main question I think is will these stories be finished now? In Horizons? Or will we all go to Odyssey now and only new stuff be added there.

So the plan of attack then is to be petty and spiteful since, as you put it, the chances of getting anything tangible out of it are "somewhere approaching zero" but you're setting out to "materially annoy" them.

Essentially "If I can't play it on my console, I want to make sure nobody else can either."
I said it was "not as ridiculous as some people are making it out to be."

I then pointed out it was petty, and not liable to incur a change of course. The "Material Annoyance" is how my solicitor described these types of claims against my business. Somehow you took from that that I'm setting out to do something. I'm not doing anything, other than pointing out that people are ridiculing something that actually isn't ridiculous. At no point did I suggest that it was a good idea, rather that it wasn't completely insane as some have made out.

If you're going to turn, "I'm not so sure this is a 100% loss" into, "I have a cunning plan, let's all do it", then I don't know what to tell you, other than you're barking up the wrong tree. If you think a few losses at the shallow end of the Small Claims Court are liable to derail a company the size of Frontier to the point it renders ED unplayable to everyone, well, let's just say you're in no position to be ridiculing anyone. About anything. Ever.

For what it's worth, I have ED on both PC and XBox, and I guess I'm one of the lucky ones in that ED:O runs well on my PC, and I'm quite happy with it in general, though I would be very pleased if I could push my XBox account to my PC. I can, however, see how console-only customers are feeling extremely aggrieved at this point.

Unfortunately I don't currently have the game installed, so to transfer my stuphz I would have to clear my drive, install, come and find you in one of my many ships and then transfer slowly bit by painful bit over many days, which would further contribute to my time in game which Was great but then became boring. Apart from the piloting which I will say to this day is Far better than any other piloting experience I've had be it in Star citizen, No mans sky etc. etc.

I even amassed 72 billion credits to buy a fleet carrier which I then refused to buy as the upkeep was designed to keep me grinding and in game and I could get places quicker in my Anaconda or Asp.

So is there a quick way to give a continuing player my Stuphz? I could just transfer £300 to your sort code and account but I wouldn't ask for that detail and I would then be £600 out of pocket and it is forbidden...

Sorry about that.

72 billion? I don't think my FC could even think of holding that.

The most likely scenario is that on PC, Horizons and Odyssey are now going to be merged in much the same way the base game and Horizons were a merged game. Everything will be updated to Odyssey's codebase and systems, all planets will be the Odyssey versions of the planets, and folks who are playing Horizons on PC are going to be basically playing Odyssey without a Disembark button (and likely not able to fly in tenuous atmospheres/not able to buy the Scorpion SRV).

This will do two things; reunite the fragmented PC player base back into the same galaxy regardless of which version of Elite they're playing (as it was between the base game and Horizons before Odyssey was a thing), and make a lot of people who are clinging to Horizons to avoid Odyssey's changes very, very, very, very very very mad. So, whenever it happens, expect a fresh vein to pop up in the salt mine and a whole lot of people to show up with their pickaxes.

Ironically, this also means that the console version of Elite Dangerous is going to be the last bastion for folks who absolutely do not want to upgrade to Odyssey.

Are you dangling stuphz in front of Le Chapeau Derriere, and then calling in other people as well?!

You, sir - are a braver man than I!
Not brave at all young man just reaching out to fellow forum members who I have shared opinions in the past and would like to hear their take on the current 'no console' thread.

The Hat behind??

This decision I suspect was very recent, after significant effort to find a way to get EDO on console. Imagine the time and effort to get transfers ready, you're suggesting they should have held off telling console owners while they wrote the system? (because it would need to be an automated process, not manual)

As difficult as it is to wait, I would see what they come up with. It may not even be possible.
Very true.

If the console servers are on an hour after PC merge is complete, I'll eat my hat.

Perhaps the delay for Update 11 was the straw.
