Content Recap - Beyond - Chapter Four Livestream - Exploration and the Codex

I don't think that will be necessary. I seem to recall that they were going to compensate commanders' accounts with the credit difference between the Basic and Advanced Discovery Scanners. The real question, then, is will they credit us for EVERY ship that we own that carries an ADS? I have at least four ships with ADS on them, so will I get 5.2 MCr (1.3 MCr x 4) or just 1.3 MCr?

Regarding Beyond Beyond

Hey,

I would appreciate it if you guys can at least answer this very simple concern, After this 3.3 update we were told to wait a bit longer for the next season but werent given an estimated ballpark.

Is there going to be any update of some scale before the next season or are we supposed to wait silently until you guys announce the next season?

It would be great if you guys can just say what is the estimated start for the new season. No strings attached.

Will, please remove 'infinite' when amount of probes are shown. Make it more lore-ish :) Thank you.
Indeed if it's infinite then there's no reason to actually display that at all. Hopefully it's just a leftover from when FDev were playing with possible limits.

You are throttled to zero when using the FSS, but you are not when using the Detailed Surface Scanner (DSS).
Can't this be left up to the Cmdr to decide? Maybe I want to make a start on SC'ing to one body whilst I continue to scan out the rest ?

One thing not many people are talking about......does anyone here believe that the new UI's & Codex will significantly decrease reliance on 3rd party websites, & other resources?

It may but sites such as EDDB will still be invaluable as you can find anything through that site and I am not sure that the codex will enable you to do that.

INARA also has search capabilities that I do not think are replicated in the codex, at least not as easily.

We'll have to wait to try it before really knowing though.

So now scan data will just be distributed freely throughout the galaxy once it has been sold to Universal Cartographics? Isn’t this the same data that was previously sold by UC to CMDRs who couldn’t be bothered with scanning it themselves? How can UC possibly sustain themselves under this new scheme? Where will they get the credits to buy our data? How will they be able to maintain the infrastructure needed to transmit the data galaxy wide? Think of the jobs lost. This is going to create an economic crisis of galactic proportions.

The infinite indicator should stay. You need to know the amount of thingies you are constantly using and that you aren't going to run out of them. Imagine a newbie trying exploration and only seeing the number of probes for each planet, but doesn't know how many he has left in total. People need to be told what kind of ammo they're using.
Seeing the infinite indicator is a relief, not seeing anything is driving people nuts looking through the menus and panels for the quantity.

It's really nice to have any more of this stuff ingame, in particular when using VR (or consoles maybe), without being forced to switch out of the game. But then, for serious planning, naturally even the Codex is too limited, as are the trade tools which I still hardly use at all (which is a pity). IMHO, EDDB, EDSM, EDDiscovery and all these will definitely stay and go on strong as ever, but now we simply get more options. Really looking forward to listening to Codex articles while exploring deep in the black with all the new possibilities, following the trails of some breadcrumbs I may find there and even make a discovery! FD has very much surpassed my expectations and exploring will be more fun than ever. Good times ahead :)

Quick question and apologies if asked already;

In the Codex, do we know if planets etc I as a player have discovered appear as a list/section?

Super 1 of 4 livefeeds. Looking forward to the next ones

Those should go in the notorious Discovery Book! So yes they should be liste somewhere

Actually, if it's infinite, why show the amount at all?

Agree with this, if they are infinite, there's no reason to enumerate them, it's not like you need a count of how many you have left.

Since I'm a kind of Star Trek person and I like techno-babble I'll go with my own lore that the DSS synthesizes them out of stored resources, the capacity is so large that you'll never run out and the resources are recharged when docking anywhere. And maybe some resources are automatically captured from space dust.

quick question regarding the voice acted content coming soon in Q4.
I am excited to see that much of the codex content will be voice acted, with players being able to build up a playlist of articles.
I am just wondering how much of the content we already see in the game will have voice acting added, if any... say a tourism beacon for example, if I go and find a tourism beacon in Sol after Q4 and its information is added into my codex, is it just a text addition, or will I be able to listen to that as an audio.

just interested really.

Can we make sure consoles are able to navigate all the contextual submenus in the UI, like interacting with Contacts in the left panel. Would hate to see the problem of console players not being able to scroll the First Discovery list, carry over to that UI.
