As far as I understood the live stream, they stretched the values for G5 to the old G5+sec eff. values.
So you should get an equivalent to the god rolls if you go for a maxed out G5.

If not, it would be a total chaos. Many would run like crazy for god rolls before the update goes live to ensure max values and new players would never have a chance to keep up.
That would be a very bad decision and would not encourage the players to convert old modules to the new system at all.

But right now I abandoned all my in-game activities and farm CIFs like crazy. So when beta starts and information become available I will be landed at Tod’s place with unengineered railguns/hammers and resources for 60-80 rolls.

In best case, I just use them after update. But if FD make new system in their usual style and forums explode with threads about “cheaters” and “exploits” I will be one of those “cheaters”, not the one making angry posts.

Don't count on it. The beta usually based on a backup one or two weeks ago. What you did since, does not alter your starting point in the beta.
 
Yup, great stream last night. Actually enjoyed a good session in ED while it was on, so it got me playing as I haven't much over the holiday season. The new content sounds very good - solid changes that will make a real difference to how ppl play the game, and how much they enjoy it. I think you're right to 'value players' time' - unfortunately due to work and other commitments we do need to be able to make quite good progress towards our in-game goals in a relatively short space of time. I personally am grateful for changes that accord with that need.

Sorry, my English is far from perfect, I probably need to choose better wording.

I grind for resources to use them in main game. I only need beta to decide which modules I should upgrade in current system (right now LR railguns, focused PA and efficient beams are my priority).
Numbers probably be adjusted slightly but the core system will not change. So I can decide which modules will become unobtainable in new system.

Q: Secondaries has been removed. Instead of them we can apply a special effect as a secondary effect. But a lot of blueprints in current system have more than two secondaries, can we buy more than one special effect ( as a secondary) and apply them on a module?

Q: Can we buy a Special effect and put it together with Experimental effect? ( For example i buy more damage special effect and then i buy Corrosive shell experimental effect) ( I'm not 100% sure if you answered it in livestream)

It looked in the stream as if there are multiple 'packages' of secondaries you can install. So you dont pick one particular stat, but a package deal.

Ah yeah that's a truth. I forgot it. Aynway, these special effect in "packages" are pretty low, some secondaries in current system are pretty huge. For example -40% thermal reduction... Question then is, if with higher upgrade level increases stats for special effects (secondaries) too.
 
I am very happy with almost all of the information given in the live-streams, this looks to be overall a great update. However I will have to say the changes to the engineers where every modules starts at level 1 is terrible.

Myself and I'm sure there are many others have G5 rolls on my modules, but never cared nor desired to go for "God Rolls" on anything. 2 - 3 G5 rolls per module is my limit and I am usually happy with the result. With the new system I am going to be looking at roughly 20 - 25 rolls for an OK G5 roll on a single module. Engineering an entire ship is going to be hundreds rolls (depending on the ship). For example, I just did a count on my Vette and to engineer it to its current level with Decent G5 rolls I am looking at roughly 700 rolls in the new system.... I did about 50 in the current system.

The new system is great for those who want to min/max or new players who have yet to touch engineering. For the average casual Elite player, who doesn't care about min/maxing, its a large increase in grind.

I am more likely to strip modules from other ships and constantly swap than to engineer an entire new ship. I really wish I had the time, materials and module storage to throw some basic G5 engineering on every module of every class So I wouldn't have to deal with engineers ever again unless it came to hull engineering.

Edit it maybe 650ish because that includes 2 heat sinks which only required a G1 roll.

Funnily enough I find that quite attractive playtime goes; Each of my ships is already stored in a specific location with spare equipment associated with that ship along with it. If I do a transfer I transfer everything; ship + equipment. I also have several ships that are stored as hull only, on bricks (group storage) until the time's right. Setting up for a flight, fit the posh engine, check everything's working before launch, I like it myself. Then again I've always liked cars.

As for the point about casual players, I've always found materials as something of a by product. Yes you probably need to take the time to stop and scoop after a fight but it's a quick minute here and there and at least now you can upgrade with the materials broker no matter what you get. Honestly think this headed in the right direction, even for casuals, who are probably even less likely to appreciate a trash roll in the current system.

If we pay a couple thousands/millions, would it be possible to have Mr. Morgan Freeman? Would that make it possible?

Well mega ships are one new source and you should - I think - be able to use planet colourations to locate too.

Not 100% but I remember hearing that you have some choices when you hand a mission in. I think it was mentioned around wing missions but I'd be little bit surprised if limited to those. Find out Thursday I guess.
 
Ah yeah that's a truth. I forgot it. Aynway, these special effect in "packages" are pretty low, some secondaries in current system are pretty huge. For example -40% thermal reduction... Question then is, if with higher upgrade level increases stats for special effects (secondaries) too.

Supposedly the core upgrades partially take into account the loss of secondaries. :)
 
Nope, wrong actually. It was confirmed that the colour of the planets will give a clue to their composition-in terms of material gathering.
Pretty sure they confirmed the opposite, but that they were looking into highlighting certain areas relavant to materials gathering with colour.
