Cool little Selenium planet

I used to get my selenium from the barnacles 30km outside of Alcazar's Hope in Merope, but at some point I think they changed the mat spawns and/or barnie ripe for harvest cycle. Havent been there in yonks.

These days for selenium I just collect other g4/g5 mats from the crystals out wherever they are and then head to a mat trader, but havent been able to do that lately as my ps4 is dying and heading down to those geo sites will heat crash my PS4. PS4 fans will start screaming even if Im down at an engineer base for longer than 3 minutes.

Just took a trip out there (1 jump from SD). At 3.7kLs from the primary star, there isn't a lot of light to be had... :sneaky: I put down at Geo 12 as this was on the 'lit' side of the planet att (a valley floor spot for a Conda to park - otherwise very hilly and unfriendly terrain at 0.03G). Went to Geo 16 next door that was much the same terrian - pain in the butt to navigate around. I picked up around 40 odd Selenium in 30min. which I guess is OK.

Thanks for the Tip! :giggle:
Im also there started at site Geo 11 thats abit challenging but doable then on to Geo 25 thats great wide open spaces Im in my Phantom and I brought 4 srv,s got the first one stuck and had to destruct so my mates advice was well called Ive never really driven SRV,s before and with a hotus but im going to camp out here till till I ve filled up so thamks for the tips Guys I got 21 Selineum from these two sites and 15 Ytritium plus some of the lower ones

You don't need to self destruct if your SRV gets stuck... It's easy to recover it back into your ship... Anywhere in fact from your SRV back to your ship.
1. Logout to the loader app
2. Login into the NON Horizons version of the game
3. You will be asked to 'Recover to Orbit'. Select this.
4. Logout to the loader app again
5. Log back into your regular Horizons account
You'll be in orbit with your srv in your hold...

Sounds like Geo25 is the one to head to then! Thanks for this!

For me the best way of getting Selenium is planets with Brains Trees
Never been on a Planet and collected stuff with a SRV so Ive enjoyed this immensly

Had to self destruct a second time when i recalled the ship and it forgot how to land twice

Back Home now
with 132 Selineum
and 67 Ytritium
plus other stuff
Ars Zirc Merc Cadm

For me 1,3,11 are doable but challenging in terrain

18,21 ,23,25 are the places to start

I also saw a few ship bits but not able to target them bit like worn shield immiters

Thanks for that. Collecting raw mats is the most painful in VR.
After sleeping overnite at HIP 36601 doing the other raw mat collecting, the Fleet Carrier i was napping on took off and i ended up 1500Ly away. Had to travel back and then on to this system.
So from 30 Selenium originally, I've filled right up.
You can add #19 to the easy driving list as well.
No more planet driving for quite a while thank God.

That was from LHS 417 - didn't get to check out the OP's planet - but thanks for the thread.

If I recall correctly, it's either the planet with the Jameson crash site or one nearby, that has at least 13 or 14 geological features and I think one of the elements I got a ton of while there was Selenium. I consider that place to be one-stop shopping. Lots of data and lots of elements to be had.

o7 Peeps. Just wanted to share a sweet little Selenium planet I visited.

LTT 5212 ABC 5 b (Se=4.5%) (0.04 G) (ShinDez > 17.51 ly)

I usually avoid low gravity planets, for obvious reasons, but this one was different.
Being a tiny planet, the outcrops spawn really close to each other and the terrain
is nice and smooth. The driving was challenging enough to keep me from falling asleep
and it was fun catching the goodies as they gently floated to the ground. I farmed
about 25 Selenium in little over a half hour. Don't let the approach fool you. It looks
worse than Ariel from above, but the canyons are easily avoided if you choose your
touchdown wisely. The lighting and "atmosphere" is really interesting too.

Have fun X.

edit: sp

If surface prospecting becomes too much, I’ve a tip for rapid mat. gathering from asteroids.

Delkar A 7 ring 2 (rocky) Res. Site drops Selenium.

Take a manoeuvrable ship with collectors, limpets and the largest prospector possible. The Clipper is perfect allowing for 80 limpets and an A7 Prospector which prompts the largest yields.

Res sites also prompt larger yields. Pristine/Haz Res being the most bountifull.

Here is the trick DON’T fit a refinery. The limpets then focus solely on mats you aren’t full of. The pirates leave you alone because you have nothing in the hold.

Very rare mats also drop surprisingly often.

Each ring type in differing locations drop different ranges and types of mat.

Enjoy and let me know if you have or find any other ring sites for other useful mats, or any comments and improvements.

Strangepork.
