You go ahead and count. Question is, which information is correct, system info population or galaxy map info?
I think that's the point. You'd need to count to know one fact that doesn't even consist of one of the vital facts you'd need to know. And you need two facts to be sure.
How many exist. How many are destroyed.
You have a choice. Assume the former is too low to support the latter. Or assume the opposite.
Given we play in a galaxy where civilisation has expanded over thousands of systems, I find it easy to assume the latter. But, more importantly, if the former annoyed me, I have absolutely no way of knowing if it's true.
I get the point being made. It's unrealistic enough that we can just get infinite ships (and we know this to be fact because it's a rule of the game). But feeling any kind of negative emotion or feeling it needs to change (without actually considering if any change would be worth it, given the hypocrisy of the situation) is the very definition of looking for something to complain about.
If they changed the text, it'd still be no less daft
If you care about reality so much that you don't like things you have no facts about.

I actually do, because all I do all day (at the moment) is bounty hunt, IN AN EAGLE no less! lol

and after a few hours which turn into weeks....I can safely say that I, on my own have taken down hundreds of NPC's Eagles....
I would be confident in saying that everyday us CMDR's take down thousands!
How many Eagles exist in the galaxy?
