Core Mining and Pulse Wave Scanner What's your Experiences

Last week I did some core mining in a double Void Opal hot spot and found no Void Opal cores in an hour and used over 100 limpets, only got some low temp Diamonds from laser mining. Seems that the pulse wave scanner is still broken along with core mining. I did try to fly in a circle while using the PWS, did get a few more asteroids to glow but didn’t find any with cores.

Core Mining is a fundamental game mechanic for mining, and I don’t understand why Fdev I taking so long to address the problem with the Pulse Wave Scanner.

I was wondering if many are still doing any core mining and what are your experiences.

I find the odd one, don't think I've ever gone an hour without finding any. My usual tactic is to drift along above the ring with FA off and slew around whilst pinging away. The "very bright, but has dark areas close up" method of selecting them seems pretty reliable to me, although I know some people disagree. Sometimes takes a couple of pings to show up.

My approach is very different. I boost into the middle of the mess (read: going on the same level as the ring, something that certainly supports small and agile ships). From my experience this gives the best results. Nevertheless I still face extended distances of nothing (I almost said "void"). Certainly not something what the average grinder and farmer would easily accept.
I used to do that but I figured I'm actually seeing less of the field that way, core asteroids are often hidden behind others too. By drifting along I can fill my canopy with a greater expanse of rocks at a slightly futher distance (but still within range of the PWA).

That's the theory, anyway. I'm not sure whether or not it actually works any better :) I can usually just about fill the hold of my miner Python before getting too bored.

The pulse wave analyzer/deep core mining has been nerfed. The devs haven't 'accidentally' broken the PWA; it must be deliberate. It's a little disingenuous for them to say 'What? Not working like it was? We'll look into it'. My own little protest is not to buy Odyssey until they fix their poop.

I find coremining one of the most fun game elements in ED. I like the patience game and those exploding asteroids never get old for me. I'm starting to think this game is an utter disgrace with fixing bugs however. I know bugs are part of the deal but this is the first game I've played where devs seem just to ignore them. I ffing paid for this game so I want it to work as good as possible. Also the excuse of "we don't have manpower to fix it" doesn't fly. Because if players find a game exploit that's being fixed within days. Not to condone game exploits, just to point to the fact there is capacity to fix things.
I've seen this game is riddled with bugs. So far nothing too game breaking but annoying. The broken PWS is for me the most annoying one.

The PWA is currently bugged, if you fly in a straight line (which is the most efficient way), you won't see any or hardly any core rocks at all.

Workaround: fly reverski or in circles, then they appear.

When it will be fixed: God knows. Or maybe not.
