Newcomer / Intro Corrosion Cargo Rack

Hello Commanders,
Just a quick question about multiple cargo racks. Theory: I'm running a class 4 corrosion rack and class 5 normal rack... If I pick up Thargoid materials that do corrosion damage will the game put corrosion materials in corrosion rack and normal materials in normal rack?
Example is I'm trying to collect the Thargoid heart and meta-alloys but farm meta-alloy while I'm out and about. Will I take damage the entire time I'm out farming?

Corrosive stuff prefers CRCR. If you start being told you are melting you have picked up too much MA are not corrosive.

As long as the number of corrosive items in your hold is lower or equal than the space in your corrosion resistant cargo rack(s) (CRCR) your ship takes no corrosive damage. Non-corrosive items will overflow into your CRCRs when the normal racks are full and limit space for corrosive items.
