Of course - there has to be balance.
And FDev are sooooo good at balance

Nice one
Does that mean we can start a new bleat about engineering now?
There's nothing wrong with continuously posting. But continuously posting the same arguments over and over again is preschool-style.
Yay \o/
(not that your message will stop the deniers)
The FSS is indeed pretty good, my only issue is with finding some mission targets, where it is still impossible via the FSS and a Nav Beacon scan is required - but I don't think the deniers have even got that far![]()
In your opinion...
I seem to recall the exact opposite being said, in this very thread, don't you?
I can't understand why you wish to nay-say the lead developer when it is in plain-speak that the ADS is not coming back - does he have to explain it further?
Our views are very close on this - stuff gets added, stuff gets changed. It is justified. This wasn't justified. It needs to be justfied or if there is no good reason, reverted.
Today, in its current iteration, we’re happy with how the FSS operates and feel that reinstating the ADS would be detrimental to the experience of exploration as it is now.
To borrow from Lincoln: "You can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not please all of the people all of the time."
Here’s a real life lesson: In the really real world, the least common denominator really isn’t as important as it thinks it should be, and the majority wins out in the end.
I know, it’s the opposite of what your college professors want, and not how things appear through Disney-colored liberal-lenses. But it is what is.
Q.E.D.
There is no reason AFAIK why we cannot have both. I very much look forward to FDev enlightening us with their compelling justification why the two cannot co-exist outside the bubble as they do within it.
There are plenty. You just always dismissed them. The most simply one: code incompatibilities. Imagine that some part of the old ADS code was again used in the new FSS, but works differently now on some aspects.
In such a scenario re-introducing and supporting the old feature would result in a lot of duplicated code and bloat. That's not desirable. (Even before noting: if they do this once, people will demand the same for each and any future change. And in no time, we can't have any new things to the game, as all developer time goes into maintenance. )
I play since 1.2, have about 4200 hours in the game. I'm what you would call an "existing player".
Yet, I love the new FSS/DSS mechanics. That shows it's about tastes and what exactly you're calling exploration. Meanwhile, as soon as my Phantom is ready, I'm going back out there, with no sympathy towards the now-deceased old mechanics.

Try "cheap".That's an awful long way of saying they are incompetent/lazy.
Try "cheap".![]()
Generally wide explaining statements take a long time for companies to post because of how companies work, and honestly personally they seemed quite clear even previous to this.It took too long for the statement to be made, though.
Unlike other uncertainties, we now have a definitive statement. I appreciate that part.
It was what I had expected.

Please look at how the improvements in mining have not stirred up such controversial threads. Mining did not take away existing tools. They added new tools, and improved the experience. Exploration could have been handled like that.
I suspect someone above Adam had something in mind, and no dissent was possible from the start.
We must now live with the FSS, and adjust accordingly.
Its because they spend so much time actually playing the gameAnd FDev are sooooo good at balance![]()
