Also bought Lifetime expansion today. Had no problems downloading the 1.4 beta. Opened and closed out the launcher a few times.

login failure - game failed to connect with the authentication server. please check your internet connection and try again in a few minutes
Next screen: Login Lost: We have logged you out of Elite Dangerous because your account is not currently available. Please try again shortly.

Servers are probably overloaded. It is similar to my 0.03 MB/s download speed of the Beta. Maybe it will be better tomorrow.

Zac! Sorry to nag you, but what about plasma repeater and rapid cannon form cqc? Will they be added to the main game?

That's not really something I can answer. Mike B and his amazing team of devs would be better placed. Ultimately though I wouldn't rule out anything going into the full game but it obviously requires a lot of careful consideration and balancing and we've only just started the Beta test so I would say it's probably a question for further down the line.

so noob question but i just know someone else is thinking it. if i am playing in the main game and play the 1.4 beta are the two unlinked so my main game is not affected in anyway? would hate to affect that 10000Ly i made towards Sag A in the last week or so

How long is it taking for you to find a match?

I selected the first one "Team something" and have been sat with the "Searching for match..." screen for about 5 minutes so far, and still waiting.

I presume its because there are only a small number of people current playing the beta.

Was answered earlier.

For beta they take an older version (usually last week or week before) and copy paste. Like a second save slot that gets deleted after beta ends.
Basically what happens in beta stays there, what happens in your main game stays there. Tis all good as they say

Your Beta testing will not affect your current live game. Get on in there!

Anything you do in Beta stays in Beta.. It does not affect your main save at all.

PS can anyone lend me some interweb speed. Currently 0.19 Mbps.. 3 hours to go at least...

Same question here. I'm new to beta and would like to know what are the impacts on the main game. Will I keep my earned or lost credits? Will I keep the ships in the main game that I bought in the beta. What about reputations, ranks and stats?

The Beta is separate, your Beta progress won't affect your main game. Enjoy!
