Okay for science, I just moved all the downloaded files so far to anther folder and restarted the launcher and got the the first 3.1GB in about 3 mins (160mb) then it slows to crawl (0.14mb) any thoughts FDevs?
Imo you guys need to implement the pre-download system like many Mmorpgs use now .

I understand that 1.4 is in beta, but the client build that was released today was a build for PC and Mac. As far as I know, they did not roll out a new Xbox client today?

So I'm wondering why there are lots of fixes in the patch notex labelled as Xbox One - how can they roll out fixes to the Xbox One without pushing out a new client?

Is xbox not getting the 1.4 release? Honestly I don't know as I don't follow xbox side of things..

CQC rocks socks off. There are issues with matchmaking but nothing FD can't improve/fix. Gameplay is solid, and it's small, little mode lot of commanders will enjoy. It doesn't take away from main game, it adds to it.

While there's no lot of to the core gameplay, lots of fundamental changes plus some new introductions are here finally.

I expected CQC to be console leftovers but it is surprisingly fun. Capture the Flag is extremely fun, which I did not expect at all.

Yes, Xbox is getting the 1.4 release, but as far as I know, I think the client that was pushed out to PC and Mac today should bring the PC / Mac version to the same level as the current Xbox Preview build. I don't think they rolled out a new Xbox build today. Any Xbox One owners on this thread can confirm / deny?

Any update to the Xbox One build has to be approved by Microsoft before it can be rolled out - FD can't just decide on their own to push one out.

For example, Xbox already had CQC about a month ago, whereas the PC build is just getting it now.

Hence, unless I'm wrong and new Xbox preview build was also pushed out today, those Xbox One fixes listed in this changelog must have been already in the Xbox build and somehow dormant until the server side updates were made, which also must mean that we are in the same Beta galaxy as Xbox One customers (for the first time)?

I was sceptical about CQC, just went on to try it for 10 mins... 45 mins later... Very addictive and well, pretty awesome as an add on mode to the game. I can see me jumping on that mode if am strapped for time or fancy some COD style fast pew pew. Would be good if there was some lore friendly tie in or something so it doesn't seem like an add-on but I can see the potential issues of that... Not had chance to test main game stuff but good work, me likes!

Xbox player here there has been no update to the Xbox one version. I really want all of this and I'm waiting patiently for an update to bring me a gunship and imperial eagle.

My guess is this will be a short beta, don't think you'll be waiting long ;)

Hmmmm. They mystery deepens - so the new ships are not in the Xbox verison yet. I can only guess that the Xbox client update must be going out imminently maybe tomorrow. Otherwise I don't understand why they are releasing Xbox one fixes in the PC release notes.

Because it's the same build and they have probably sent over it to Microsoft for validation. You'll just have too wait for Microsoft to give it a thumbs up/down before they can/can't release it.

CQC Beta crashes for me on launch every time, just after the second splash screen. Can submit a bug report, though it's probably been logged many times already.

We don't have the new ships in the current XB1 preview of the game, so XB1 is awaiting an update for this beta.

EDIT: What ahiredgun said.

Wow. Update log reads like a novel.

My request for future update/change:
- enable/fix wake field scanning in supercruise
- provide major faction and power play faction insignia to players after they reached a mid-level rank
Thanks

Well let's hope they can get the matchmaking to work as well as it is in the live galaxy...that should be a standard to strive for, right?

Probably, but the real question is have PC players already today been joined to the Xbox beta Galaxy or will Xbox users be joining our beta Galaxy?

Implications here are to what extent client push will have to be synced up once everyone is in the same Galaxy. My guess would be that they would try to maintain server side compatibility with the previous console build, which may also entail having some features only be "switched on" once all platform updates are pushed out.

To give an example, will they be able to push out an update with new ships on PC into the released game without pushing out exactly the same update onto Xbox at the same time.

Edit : to answer my own question, we already know that Horizons won't come out for Xbox at the same time as PC so the servers will need to be able to handle different client capabilities.

This would be the same as pc players who do not have horizons expansion, shouldn't make any difference to the background simulation, which is all xbox and pc clients will be sharing.

Downloading :) Gonna test the beta after work tomorrow. A lot of real life stuff happening these days :) Great changelog. Good job Frontier.

Probably neither. Xbox and PC users will not share instances because of Microsoft stuff. So there is no need for FD to strive to get them on exactly the same code base. The PC beta test is on a copy of the live PC galaxy from a little while ago. So definitely not the same galaxy as the XBox folks. Given how short the beta is likely to be, there is probably no great need to put them on the same beta galaxy.
