Mate lets be clear. CQC is essential because Frontier in their wisdom have made it such that it's very hard to have actual PVP in game because of the ease with which ships can either hyperdrive away if not mass locked by big/slow ships, or outrun them if they ARE mass locked by big and slow. Added to solo-mode, and there's a serious gap in PVP combat to the extent that the only people who actually take part are the traders with big enough balls to play in open and submit to being "bait," as well as opposing PVP sides willingly lining up to play.

This has been done to make it very friendly to the solo-newcomer who isn't playing with a Wing and doesn't have a ton of out of game knowledge, but added to instancing it makes for the feeling of a very empty world where players rarely if ever engage with combat with non-AI, and have no incentive to learn the finer points of flying,break their ingrained bad habits in what is probably the best gaming flight engine ever made with a WEALTH of depth to find. CQC rewards you for being an amazing pilot in a way that PVE just doesn't and I find that AMAZING.

If you think this destroys the realism of your space roleplaying experience and you feel that it should be axed, remind yourself that you're playing a spacefaring GAME with ridiculously unrealistic things like capped maximum velocities, aliens, and a whole range of sci-fi cliches.

Let me make it clear, I have no objection to CQC. I have played a few rounds to see what it was like and it was quite an acceptable arcade game, but it is not part of Elite. I don't involve myself in Powerplay, but I wouldn't suggest the references to it are hidden in the game. I can put up with "Exploited by ...." on my home system because I can ignore it and it has absolutely no effect on my gameplay in any case. The CQC rating, on the other hand, does not have the same standing in the game as my combat/trading/exploration achievements and for me it doesn't belong there.

I'm not asking for permanent removal, just a toggle to hide it and then those that want to display it are welcome to do so.

Again, it's not an icon. You think I'm being hostile ? :) Well lets just say I do, on occasion, reply to people in the manner they have shown to me. If I get attitude, there is a chance I`ll give some back. It's not random.
In fact your comments are far more personal and insulting than any of mine, not to mention sarcastic. Maybe you should look at yourself before judging others.
Firstly I disagree that I am being hostile, personal or nasty. It was a flippant comment based on his response. Nothing more.
Secondly, I am in no way on a vitriolic crusade. You are making the fundamental error of labeling it a crusade based on a) the amount of posts and b) the length of those posts.
So as for (a), I am simply replying to those who have replied to me as I think it is only polite and don't want to ignore someone who has written to me. As for (b), I am a stickler for details and not known for one-liners.

There is no vitriol here. Simply because I don't think a CQC rank should appear in the main core game, does not make me childish or having the need to "grow up" (although I don't see you having a go at the person who said that to me - double standards?).
It is a perfectly valid opinion and if it treads on the toes of those who think Elite is perfect no matter what, then so be it.
I am not here to blindly praise everything as perfect and while this is a small issue, it is one that clearly bothers others when it is mentioned and hence this big hulabaloo.

Exactly. Powerplay is not part of Elite lore either and, although I have not yet pledged to a power, I see it as a good enhancment to the core game. There are so many things you can add the core game to make Elite Dangerous all that much more exciting and dynamic.
CQC doesn't fall into that category in my opinion. I think it is, and should be seen as, a separate stand-alone sub-game that exists outside of the core experience.
Hey, if you cant to add money and permits to it which apply to the main game, go for it. It it entices people to play CQC then that's all good.
Just keep it off the core game HUD, that's all. It sticks out like a sore thumb.

Well I'd say we talked it trough. I guess frontier noticed the vote and the pritty long thread about it. This thread should not say about it, atleast not on this level. Let's finish it, becouse you are just repeating yourselfs. I mean everybody not just F1Racer

First I want to apologize for my poor English. It is not my native language.

About CQC.
I am not interested in this “part” of game. Nor I want to participate in this. Because I do not think CQC belongs to “core game” of E:D.
But I think of it as improvement to the game which can appeal to some players and make their experience with game more fun.
But only as long as it stays optional. The problem is - it is not.

We all have three main stats, which evaluate pilot’s effectiveness at different core game activities: combat, trade and exploration. And forcing rank in optional championship as one of the main statistics just do not make sense.

Let us look at this in this way:
In some (fictional) police force, all officers have their skills evaluated and listed in personal records file. These skills include marksmanship, detective’s work and first aid. All of them related to main profession.
Now someone decided to run pizza-making contest. It is completely optional, some may find it fun while others do not want to participate.
But now all officers have their pizza-making skills listed on first page of their personal record file as one of their most important characteristics.

I am curious about the weapons tweak. I was dissapointed i haven't seen a dmg buff on missiles, but i am gonna test what happend with the lasers and multicannons

What if at this police station they had their marksmenship competition with hand guns. Then someone said, hold on let's do another one with rifles. That's more accurate isn't it? CQC isn't making pizzas, it's combat; a specialist form of combat, in small ships. I'll probably put more stock by CQC than the Elite combat rank to be honest. Anyone in an Anaconda or Python can get to Elite combat ranking. CQC takes a lot more skill.
