About CQC.
I am not interested in this “part” of game. Nor I want to participate in this. Because I do not think CQC belongs to “core game” of E:D.

Have you tried it yet?
I thought the same way, as many other do. But as many others i found it is making a lot of fun.
About the stats in the cockpit screen i'm somewhat on your side. What happens in CQC should stay at CQC.
FD should at least make it optional to show the CQC stats there.
But on the other side, an explorer may not care about the combat and trading rank either.
So maybe its not this of a big deal if you look at it from this direction. I don't know.

Let us look at this in this way:
In some (fictional) police force, all officers have their skills evaluated and listed in personal records file. These skills include marksmanship, detective’s work and first aid. All of them related to main profession.
Now someone decided to run pizza-making contest. It is completely optional, some may find it fun while others do not want to participate.
But now all officers have their pizza-making skills listed on first page of their personal record file as one of their most important characteristics.

You'd be better off not selectively asking for consistency in Elite's universe, because then you should be asking for it as a whole (very incomplete list).

Oh my gosh, noes! Pilots get their rank in an in universe virtual tournament displayed in their HUDs (which don't vary a single bit by ship-manufacturer/-type) in their ships (which have damage states determined by health bars), with which they're flying into RES to hunt pirates (who all have a death wish and keep dropping in one by one, so their bounties may be collected)...

Everything was perfect, but CQC has broken my immersion. Good job Frontier!

Seriously.

First I want to apologize for my poor English. It is not my native language.

But I think of it as improvement to the game which can appeal to some players and make their experience with game more fun.
But only as long as it stays optional. The problem is - it is not.

We all have three main stats, which evaluate pilot’s effectiveness at different core game activities: combat, trade and exploration. And forcing rank in optional championship as one of the main statistics just do not make sense.

I don't see the issue.
Powerplay is optional.
CQC is optional.
What is the problem with having CQC,
we have UFC in real life. So, why not
a galactic version?
Or call it a space version of TopGun.
Either way, it's a great place for some excitement,
and blow off some steam. Reminds me of Deathmatches
in Quake II.

Actualy I was also really sceptic, I did an outrage when they anounced it, but now.. I am thinking to enter the 100k$ Tournament:D So yeah, It's fun

- Local Cartographic Data Filters not working fixed
Can you clarify what this means?

When I originally saw this option in the galmap, it sounded like it would filter to distinguish between systems you'd visited/scanned and systems you had not, which is a long-requested feature that would be incredibly useful to everyone, especially explorers--being able to visually see on the map which systems we've visited! I was extremely disappointed to find that it seemed to only show "local data" for systems where you'd purchased the data, which is... not really the least bit useful at all, so I'm not sure why it worked that way.

If that was a bug, and it's now working the way it sounds like it should, rejoice. :D

I don't see the issue.
Powerplay is optional.

The issue is discussed is a big long thread elsewhere! Basically, it's the desire to not have the CQC rating displayed in the UI the way it is or, even better, make it (and the other 3 while they're at it) togglable.

As you say Powerplay is optional and we do not have an intrustive PowerPlay: N00B in the main part of the UI. People not interested in CQC just want it treated similarly.

What is the problem with having CQC,

The answer to this is the same as the answer to those that ask 'What if an explorer doesn't like trading or combat?"
CQC is NOT part of the main core game. Powerplay, Exploration, Trading and Combat are.
It really isn't that hard to understand the fundamental difference.
CQC is separate (accessed from the main menu). Frontier were right to design it like this as it makes the most sense.
So having powerplay, exploration, trading and combat ranks in the main core game is pretty much mandatory, while CQC is not core gameplay and all of it should be kept separete. It's just a bad decision to put it there I think. Hopefully Frontier wil eventually realise this and put it where it rightfully belongs, which is on the ships HUD in CQC.

Also, to address another point, it doesn't matter how good CQC is or if people have tried it or not. It may be loads of fun and addictive as hell. The point still stands regardless imo.

The poll on this had 57 pages of commentary. Clearly this is a contentious issue with many people.

I see - Multicannon and Pulselaser tweaks., It is the armor penetration nerf for the lasers? I have no idea what's about the multicannon tho, and I unfortunately havent found the missile buff, or was I wrong about it's coming?

I am curious about the weapons tweak. I was dissapointed i haven't seen a dmg buff on missiles, but i am gonna test what happend with the lasers and multicannons

Considering that this was under audio stuff, I'm guessing it has to do with their sound. I'm pretty sure they didn't mess with their damage values. Only thing that has been altered is how weapons penetrate armour.

right guys a quickie to confirm

so My ED is the KSer beta upgraded to premium but now tied to steam.

do i go home, kill the steam client, rename my 1.4 beta directory to my standard instal directory for the game (ending in 10)

then download the new install client from frontier

log in and then click upgrade

and it will auto update my 1.4 beta to 1.4 release? (thus saving my internet bandwidth from upgrading 1.3 to 1.4)

thanks

(or is the download not that big and i should just not mess about?)

take it over there then, this is a thread about the general release of 1.4 not your need to continually bang on about something that has 57 pages worth elsewhere!
