I'm pretty new to the game and I haven't figured out why a full price game sells new content for even more money than the price of the game itself. Thats even worse than EA, but hey everyone likes this and EA is an awesome company .... oh wait ....

I bought ED just recently. Being bored waiting for certain update of certain flight sim and wanted to kill some time in different game. And ED was on discount.
Update for which I waited came out but I barely noticed it because I was too busy making my Nth jump towards galactic core.
Now I play that flight sim to kill time while waiting for update for ED. There is some irony in this. :)

Its worse where I work. We sysadmins KNOW that a server upgrade is going to take 6 hours. The paper-pushers who schedule the downtime tell the customers that it will only take 4. Every single time we end up having to justified 2 hours of unscheduled down time with the bosses looking at us wondering why we can't make our deadlines. Even worse the customer tells the paper-pushers that we can schedule the work over as much time on the weekend as we need. Madness.
