Yes, a simple on/off toggle would suffice.

I don't see any reason why there should be an option to turn it on other than "hey look - I'm great at space invaders with auto aim".

I certainly wouldn't mind it as an option as long as I don't need to see it, although chosing to display it would be just sad.

"Hi guys,

Just a quick note to make you aware of regarding exploration data.

We are currently giving the exploration data servers an upgrade which will help with load and should improve performance also. However, this means there may be some discrepancies in the exploration data until the update is finished. This will be completed by tomorrow.

Thanks,

Zac

Hey Speccy, that link you posted sure help me feel better. +rep to you :)

Seems that the change related to
  • Decreased the time the highest end AIs spend "on" the interdiction vector to make them a little easier
  • Make interdiction a bit fairer, it isn't so weighted in favour of the person being interdicted

I think F: dev may need to take another pass, if the above is their stated aim. It strikes me that there's either something wrong, or something missing from the patch notes. I happily admit to being a novice when it comes to interdiction, but the current setup is impenetrable. There is no feedback as to why, even when you're on target, your side of the meter goes down when the target's goes up. There's no obvious way to "learn" when the end result after 20-30 interdictions as the agressor end up the same way. I don't mind things being difficult if I can see where I've got to improve. But I have no idea, so ermmm, yeah. Not fun.

It was too easy before, I think, so I like that it's more challenging. But maybe get some more feedback F: Dev and see where it's at. You may have gone too far in this balance attempt to make it "fairer".

please fix interdiction model as in previous version. End. It's not fair to be avaded by a crappy type7 npc every time, and I interdiced hundred of ships so far!

Noticed a problem with 1.4. In SC and using the Oculus Rift the frame rate really drops to the point where you get major ghosting. Drop out of SC and all is fine even in resource extraction sites and stations. Only seems to affect SC and I can confirm that 1.3 wasn't like this.

Do you guys think CQC will help me find some people to play with in open play? I'm in the US and I almost never see other commanders during early east coast hours, -5 BST i think.

I don't think you can chat in CQC so don't think that's going to help at all. Might be wrong though.

Yes, I've noticed this too. Framerate drops only in SC and I experience judder when using DK2.

Just logged in to Elite Dangerous, found servers were down = :(

Checked the forums, saw this thread = :D :D :D

Thank you very much, Frontier! Very exciting!

EDIT: I'm not sure I understand this point:
"Allow NPCs to start interdicting the player while they are charging for a hyperspace jump (but not once the countdown has started)"

I've been interdicted *many* times while charging (from unaligned pirates and Powerplay enemies alike) , so I'm guessing this is just a round-about way of saying that NPC's can no longer interdict if the jump countdown is in progress?

EDIT2: Then in the next section, we have this:
"Don't allow NPCs to interdict if the target is charging their hyperspace drive - previously only blocked the interdiction during the actual countdown"

So which one is it?

Once I got interdicted just before the countdown started and I let it continue. Big Mistake. The countdown completed and I jumped to the next system only to be pushed into that star with the interdictor by the still ongoing interdiction. Somehow he came along with me through the intersystem frame shift with the interdiction field still active. The NPC interdictor wasn't interested in fighting me after a cargo scan, but even with everything powered down I dropped from 100% to 20% from heat damage trying to escape that star only to be interdicted again by the same NPC. While his destruction was quite satisfying, all that heat damage was quite the expense to fix.

Holy crap, interdiction is ridiculous now.

Yuuup.

....may need some more testing, prior to today I was more or less being pulled out of supercruise every other time. I've only been playing 20 minutes now since the patch downloaded and I've been pulled out of supercruise 4 times and lost two eagles just trying to make it between Akerman market and Russell Ring, that's more ships lost in 20 minutes than the rest of my time playing the game.

To note with further data since I posted:

I have had 34 interdictions attempted on me.

20 have caused me to drop out of supercruise
5 have completed within 4 seconds of interdiction, while I did have a chance to pilot out of it the escape vector shook erratically like trying to hone in on a unknown signal way too fast way too close
10 completed after 10 seconds of successful navigation with a fully blue bar which should have allowed escape.
3 completed immediately after starting dropping me out of supercruise and inflicting 7% damage to my ship.

of the 5 interdictions that did not cause me to drop out of supercruise
2 I successfully navigated out of
3 failed for unknown reasons. The interdiction started and then failed randomly.

Of the remaining 9 they were Federal interdiction and I didn't want to deal with this crap with them.

Additionally I've lost another 4 ships due to this (one of which being fully kitted out combat cobra which were lost in about 3 seconds of combat), as either I off a faction, or the npcs doing interdictions now are severely overclassed for the area of space.

Interdictions need a tweak. A novice NPC python was able to pull my fully A rated python out of SC despite my having pegged the blue bubble the entire time.

The heat 'optimizations' seem to have borked something. My python is overheating at a ridiculous rate with pulse lasers. A couple of shots and I go from mid-high 20's heat to a heat warning. Something's not quite right there.

Did shield values get tweaked down? A rated shields with a booster are dropping about twice as fast as they were prior to the update. I could understand it if it was a heavily armed opponent, but novice and other low rated NPCs in small ships like sidewinders, etc.. shouldn't be able to wreck my python's shields that fast.

Yuuup.

Agreed that the Interdiction changes were probably needed, but they went too far by a touch. I had a near-perfect record of evading interdiction before the patch. That has now gone to a near-perfect record of being interdicted. And I'm in A-rated, maneuverable ships...there's just now way to keep up with that Escape Vector sometimes...and if you're not on it for 3 seconds, you're dropped. I've also been fighting with it a few times, and had a shot at it, but started taking so much overheat damage I had to submit or tear myself apart. Either way, its a loss.

Combined with the NPC Interdiction changes, I've been train-interdicted in 6 systems out of 14 this evening. Meaning, Jump in, align next, "Charging," Interdicted, fail to evade, normal space outrun, back to supercruise, align, charging, interdicted....wash, rinse, repeat by at least 3 NPCs each time. Annoying.

Also, I don't understand the point of the 10 CR repair limit. Now I just always have a 10 CR repair glowing at me in the Station Services that I can't do anything with. Why can I not 100% fix my ship? I don't understand the meta mechanic here.

I did wade through the first few pages, but at 16 pages in I couldn't face it. I'll search yours out now, thanks.

Yeah, I couldn't be bothered searching it out on my phone for you either, but I reckoned you would know how to find it through my recent posts.

Apparently the exploration data servers are being upgraded my 1800 scan 3 month mission no data showing I am a little tempted to just walk away now I play 8hours a week at most while my kids sleep and been exploring for 3 months and now nadda no data showing.. Not happy.

Hello FD,

finally my first post. What i have to say is thank you for all the great stuff! But i am the first with a complain regarding interdictions on NPC's. It is horrible now after the patch!
If i have interdicted a npc/ship and haveing it whole time in front of me with most of the times perfectly in center, how is it possible he can escape. It now going to cost me more time again to archive my things i want, and i am taking hard Hull dmg!
Also tested a few different FSI's from low cost to High cost all the same!

I hope this can be fixed soon!

I got interdiction sounds in supercruise for 1000ls but nothing on screen.
I also have the 10cr repair not repairing.
Still have supercruise AMD stuttering on Win10 64b

...but the Hazardous RES mechanics and effects ... wow !

Little niggles from Beta not fixed

Just sat waiting for the first complaint, or the any news on or why haven't you. etc
Sorry to meet your expectations Warlock
.
I don't know if I'm the first, but ...
- There is a constant 10cr Repair charge displayed on home screen and on repairs which does not clear no matter how often you click 'Repair'
- I still want the CC 'rank' removed from my right-hand panel. At least make it something we can turn off please!
There was a vote thread which came down fairly heavily in the 'remove it' camp.
.
Haven't played enough to spot anything else, but those two would have been nice to see prior to release.
In particular, the Repair display issue

.
Dear FD .. please mend!

Thanks

PS. yes it also sounds from other's post that the interdiction side is broken. This was mentioned by people in Beta testing also.
.
Please don't just ignore people.
These concerns make the game more frustrating not more interesting!
.
BTW quite like that you seem to get scanned at outposts .. so now nowhere is safe!!! ... you've been warned Cmdrs
