Does this seem like it failed or even backfired to anybody else? Pre-patch I was interdicting NPC's with about a 90% success rate. Post-patch I'm down to about a 5% success rate. On NPC's. Am I the only one?

They decreased it from the previous beta build which...if you can believe it... was even worse than what you are seeing now.

TLDR; Post 1.4 patch the game is no longer fun for newbies/casuals. Difficulty & Leveling curve is too steep.

Bought this game about a week or two ago. Was amazed at how in-depth and fun a space sim could be. Spent hours watching videos and reading forums to learn more about the game and it's mechanics. Found all the awesome websites for ship building, trading, etc. I really started enjoying collecting bounties/bonds in RES and conflict zones and was looking forward to leveling up, getting mucho money, and outfitting bigger ships... until BAM! "Server Updating"...

1.4 Update made everything extremely difficult for new players. I get that you created a higher bar for the advanced player looking for a new challenge... but it has trickled down too far into the low ranks and makes the core means of leveling / upgrading too out of reach. With my moderately outfitted Cobra and previous flight knowledge I could last about 30 minutes inside both High Intensity Conflict Zones & RES. Now I'm lucky to leave Low Intensity combat zones with my life after only one engagement. Other times I will have my shields blasted away instantly by every ship at once after toggling my faction. I decided to come voice my opinion here instead of punching a hole through my monitor from frustration. Thought about doing some trading (I find it quite boring) but with all the Interdiction talk I'm pretty keen on just letting this title go for the time being. :(

The saddest part of all is that I was having way too much fun with the previous version!!! Fun is what we're after right?

Suggestion: AI target priority and interdiction chance/difficulty based on player rank. (Why would an Elite Python prioritize a Novice light fighter in battle when he's being blasted by two NPC Master Vipers and one Deadly Vulture. Pre patch this wasn't the case at all and I could pick my battles accordingly. The changes to powerplant really sealed the coffin.

When you hit the CZ move away from the ships before choosing faction and then move back in slowly choosing your targets and making sure you don't get surrounded by enemies.

Trust me, Conflict Zones are tough-for advanced & beginner players-& were so long before 1.4.

Thanks for the tips. I just got into another system and tried out some more Conflict Zones. I think maybe the battle was just super lopsided in my last session, because the one I just played in was lopsided in my favor this time. There was like a 5:1 ratio of friendly/enemy. Had to leave only to replenish ammo. Checked out another Zone nearby and it was lopsided against me again. I guess it wouldn't be fun if you could just wreck shop every time. From another perspective, the nail biter 3% hull escapes are what's got me hooked on this game in the first place. Dying just suckkkks.

The Haz RES's are actually pretty awesome and a little more forgiving. I think once I can finally afford a combat Vulture I will be raging less and having lucrative engagements more often.

As with any game I will adapt. The new Subsystem and Interdiction mechanics need some revisiting though. As is they are pretty darn lame compared to what was.

- Speculative fix for some stuttering in supercruise seen on Win10 machines with AMD graphics cards
Unfortunately this issue has not been fixed. Of course I can use the old AMD drivers and ignore the problem, but I'm the type of guy who always wants to use the newest drivers.

I was indicted by a sidewinder npc, in an asp. Stayed more time in the blue and centred than i usually do, never seen the red shoot up as fast as it did, Indiction success, sidewider tasted beams.
Also NPC cops outside are now dodgy they are after tea money. How, well they scan and boost ram you in the side to give you a 100Cr fine to pay when your already lined up to enter the letterbox to land.

Also NPC ships leaving docks totally ignore your presence and will ram you if your flying slower out the dock than they are. Since update I have had about 6 fines for getting rammed than the 2 fines I had in the last 2 weeks before 1.4 update which are my fault. Not enjoying the update so far.

Is anyone a little bit curious like me about the fact that we don't get any official posts about the actual status and / or what went wrong in 1.4 release not being close to the latest beta-build? or the countless reported errors that are back / still not fixed from day one (of 1.4 beta)?

Don't get me wrong, i love the direction ED is taking, but their patchdays / communication on that are far from professional...

Ähm ... 1.4 was officially released? Really?
When did that happen ... does that mean the beta phase is over?
You must be joking ...

Hey Duedy, before this update I was rammed/bumped from the rear quite a few times by NPC ships while entering stations... so they've been doing this sort of thing for some time. To be fair though, I do go slowly when my docking bay is one of the first after entering, but because I was under the speed limit I never received a fine.

+1 for what Six6VI, Twinn and Duedy have said, above. No more trading for me. Also, I'm sick to death of being interdicted with 1.01Mm to run...

Maybe I was lucky before, but just seems coincidentally to coincide with the new update and the Police now ramming me while scanning all of a sudden. Just seems the AI has gone from Dangerous to Reckless.

Felt interdictions was pretty ok before 1.4 so I don't understand why fix something that ain't broken.
Only problem I ever had with them as a medium/high player was the AI, the random interdictions from NPC players had almost never any kind of logic at all behind them and they are still there.

Why!? does a lone pilot in a Cobra or even a Sidewinder decide to interdict targets they stand no chance of beating? before 1.4 it was my fully kitted Vulture. Good luck taking that on with a sidewinder.
Now I got my self a Python with 3 class 3 lasers on turrets. Yesterday I was interdicted twice, both times cobras. Even tho I just have a class 3 shield on this trade python I never lost it and the turreted lasers took them out before I barely ever got them in view.

So, for new players 1.4 interdictions is an obstacle. To higher players its an annoying waste of time, even more so now when you cant avoid them so easily.

well i can honestly say i've never seen such a broken game release like this before. Between game crashes, screen size changing on its own, Interdictions from hell,CPC ranking inexplicably added to everyones hud, 10 cr bug in station, npc now being mega outfitted, its not really enjoyable to play. More of a stressful outing trying not to die in supercruise.

My very first outing from an out post in 1.4 i got interdicted by an elite anaconda in a wing with 2 more elite pythons. Are you kidding me? I was getting canopy and structural damage with shields up.I just managed to boost away and go to another system and limp into a station. It was frustrating to see these ships do things in supercruise that we could never do like being able to interdict you immediately after passing you head on. I have an A fitted asp with extra shield boosters and still i was way underpowered. Frustrating when most npcs are now shooting railguns and plasma at you.

If you have any cargo at all you are going to get hit.

Are they trying to turn this into a crappy deathmatch in space? I 'm not interested in cpc so i don't want to see any mention of it in my hud. Trading is no longer an option as you get interdicted every time.
People are saying the are even getting interdicted 1000 lyrs from the nearest stations while exploring.
The power plant removal was a joke. Why couldn't we destroy a ship like that? It,s almost as if the cpc players complained and they changed it for them. I didn't go into the cpc beta because i couldn't care less about that kind of play. I didnt go into open play because of anaconda spammers.

It looks like they made it that way it solo now with spammer npc players.
