And exactly this is what is wrong with almost unevoidable interdictions.
Not everyone starts with an A grade Python to trade in.
T6, T7 have actually no chance to get out of that alive.
How should these players get up to a Python or Annie?
Doing CQC till they have the funds for it?
Dangerous is one thing, nearly impossible for starters / midgame is another.
Playing a game is about fun.
There's no fun involved anymore if you try to play a trader right from the start.
yeah, yeah, get better in avoiding.
pls, go pew pew in cqc, but this has to be adressed for the peace-loving folks out there.
The only thing that comes out of the current situation is no more targets for pirates in open if it's not even the AI that can be avoided.
I think I just found a really big problem with the current situation. This is more of an annoyance for me, but for a newer player in a smaller ship it would be practically impossible for them not to get destroyed.
I am currently flying a trade anaconda, and was just carrying 420 imperial slaves, attempting to get the 400ls to the station. When I jumped in I had the usual message along the lines of "The rumours were right, thats the ship I was looking for". Usually I just get a small ship, maybe a vulture, to which my four F3 pulse laser turrets and two F2 multi-cannon turrets are more than enough for.
Knowing that I can no longer escape interdictions, the only feasible option is to submit, otherwise you take a little damage, and it takes ages to jump out.
However, this time it was a Deadly Python, that immediatly started to fire rail guns at me. Now I lost nearly one bar of my shield before getting back to supercruise (I run an A4 shield with eight A0 shield boosters). Now this is where it gets interesting, the Python followed me into supercruise, and interdicted me again. This happened three times before I managed to drop out of supercruise to the station. He also followed me there, and managed to get me half to the second shield ring before reaching the cover of the station guns.
Now I could have stopped to fight, but with the weaker shields on the trade loadout that is definately the riskiest option, but this is not my point.
My point is, if this happened to a trader upto T7, they would pretty much certainly be dead. This no win situation is one of the MOST SERIOUS bugs in the game. Before 1.4, evading interdictions was a little bit of challege, but the balance was pretty much spot on. After 1.4 it is almost impossible to evade. So for the vast majority of the players trading is no longer a viable profession. It simply costs way more to pay insurance and lost cargo than can be made. Only those lucky enough to have bought and outfitted the bigger ships before 1.4 can actually continue pretty much unaffected.
I do agree with making the actual interdicting other ships harder and based on the interdictor class and rating fitted, that was a bit too easy before.
I anticipate a reply from FD to acknowledge they are looking into this, I think this is a really big issue for most of the players, especially the newer players. This is a great game, and it is unfortunate how a small balance change can have such an unintended negative impact.
