Engineers "Craft modules to increase you reputation"?

I want to increase my rep with Elvira Martuuk. An option is to craft modules? What does that mean? It sounds Minecrafty, so I must be missing something.

It means that as you do an engineering modification on a module in her workshop it will increase your reputation with her and so your level of access (access up to level 5 mods). The wording is a relic of the old system.

If all you are doing is building rep find a mod she does that uses materials you have a lot of. so say she has a mod that requires only 1x iron (or whatever) and you have 250 iron in your hold. Just keep tapping that modification to rank up with her. Then move to what you really wanted to mod. If the mod maxes out switch that same module to another mod, then switch back.
You can also sell her explorer data to increase rep. But unless you have a ton of that modding up (crafting) is faster.

Yeah, just mod stuff. You'll see your rep increase right before your eyes.
