News Crime and Punishment in Beyond Chapter One

Well my noteriety is winding down, I don't really get this thing, I am in a shield less T10, but no one is after me, suppose that I have to clean wanted modules and ships later when noteriety is zero, which seems a time waste, like engineers, when you shuffle modules about and there are no material traders there for some reason.
Anyway still not sure why killing npc is so bad. Weird to have the killed by an ATR achievement.

These are my recent experiences with friendly fire and assaulting a cop , In hi res I get a friendly warning “ stow those weapons Cmdr” as a first and final warning, the second hit I get a 500cr bounty .

If I accidentally hit a clean or wanted npc without a scan completing then it’s a 500cr assault charge which will rapidly turn to a murder charge . Then it’s noteriety and hassle

This as far as I know is working as intended.

As for reckless weapons discharge, this comes in on a second incident, it happened to a buddy yesterday in a CNB , he got a bounty but no notoriety. .

Trigger discipline and being aware of what’s around you in the heat of combat is the only work around unless you use smart rounds on your M/C’s ...which is a bummer having to re supply ammo , which puts me off using them in hi res, cz etc

Weapons on turret mounts will also mitigate against this however then the penalty is reduced damage from the weapon and increased scorn from 'WW1 style fixed mounts are the only way' purist snobs.

Would one of the healing beam effects work in our favour here as well?

Only just fallen foul on this. Hacked a terminal to see what it does. Got a CR300 fine. Later had to pay CR8,000 to install a module in a clean exploration-engineered Sidewinder. Still later was annihilated in said Sidewinder by cops, whilst coming in to land at a spaceport, for a CR24,880 rebuy. Suggestions:

Crime could be more similar to original Acornsoft Elite i.e. degrees of heat: Clean→Offender→Fugitive. Offender status is earned by less serious offences e.g. traffic violations, hacking of installations, smuggling, firing weapons in a restricted area; whilst Fugitive status is earned by repeated minor violations or else by more serious offences such as piracy and murder. Fugitives have WANTED status everywhere and are only safe from the authorities in Anarchy systems.

Then authorities could only open fire without warning on players with Fugitive status, so that you can't be killed simply for making a mess of parking or hacking a terminal. Offenders are challenged and told to stop immediately. If they don't they're fired upon. After being scanned they're told to surrender control of their ship, and then are escorted to the nearest starport and a red-lit landing pad which they automatically dock at. Any time the player touches the controls to break automatic escorted hyperspace/supercruise/docking they're fired upon. Upon landing their ship is impounded, and only released once fines are paid. If the Offender can't afford the fines, they lose all their cash and their ship, and get a starting Sidewinder with CR1,000, or whatever starting options were available to them as a Backer. They retain other stored ships and modules.

Also, losing a ship by any means should mean losing all engineered upgrades to modules. Insurance can replace the modules, but not their unique modifications. It should also mean the loss of all on-board materials, but that would be disastrous, so spaceport materials storage facilities could be made available to mitigate the loss. This would make players more chary of losing their ships, and keep the Engineers busy re-engineering the modules of those players that do lose their ships.

I get bounties for friendly fire from time to time, when some NPC thinks it´s a good idea to cross my beams. My method to avoid notoriety is to jump out of the system as soon as possible before the idiot gets killed and look for Interstellar Factors. This way you only have to pay the 500 Cr Bounty. In case you get bounties whilst f.e.hacking data terminals I pay my fines before I return to the station to accomplish the mission. Should you try to dock in a station where you´re wanted with notoriety you´ll find yourself blasted and afterwards in jail some 60 ly or so away..

My Anaconda is hot for whatever reason it says it can be cleaned at an Interstellar Factors I have No outstanding fines to pay I have no idea what system this happens in,
I feel like I have lost my anaconda with no way to get it back.

Instead of necro'ing a (remotely related) thread in the "News and Bulletins" section, it might be more useful to start a new thread in either the Newcomers section (I see you have been on the forum for a long time, but the crowd there tends to be friendlier) or in Dangerous Discussion.
If you do, screenshots would be helpful.
