I use keyboard and mouse. It's worth getting used to; once you're good enough, you have precision on your side. It's a real advantage.

My biggest tip would be use of vertical thrusters and more cautious approach to throttle. Try to hug the enemy perpendicularly using backwards throttle and vertical thrust. You can see me do this in the latter part of the video.
In my experience, using relative mouse control (joystick not simulated) is difficult for dogfighting. I recommend using absolute pitch/roll so that you can turn without moving the mouse for the duration.
