I doubt its a qr codeIve seen some imgaes that look like a QR code but dunno if thats just overthinking.
I'm pretty sure she never mentions the LP. Are you thinking of the bit where she says they're using the beacon to send info back to Azimuth? She does know the LP exists, she specifically mentions it in her logs.
Carver says she was using the LP to update Azimuth.

"Our transport ship's long gone by now, but Taylor's using the beacon to transmit our findings back to the company in the Chukchan system."
But that would also suggest that the transmission from the survey site to the LP was either unencrypted (unlikely given the message) or was encrypted at the base somehow with the same (similar) top of the line encryption the LP was using. Further, given the distances involved, I find it hard to believe that the transmission would be via tightbeam and not a general broadcast requiring the encryption to be broken by any interceptor. So, a general broadcast would reveal the source but not the destination, whereas a tightbeam (if even possible) would have very little risk of being intercepted by chance anyway.I am, are you taking it to mean the Beacon at the Outpost?
tied in with 'top of the line encryption' it seemed to be the LP to me. Plus my tinfoil below but thats separate and can be chucked at any point if proven one way or anoither.
Tinfoil 'evidence' for LP being the Beacon.
the Adamastor was sent on a roundabout trip. Not straight to CSN and files a flight log for 370LY towards *. Assuming that the LP is the beacon this suggests that somebody is deliberately obfuscating the direction. Messages from CSN are sent 'south', messages from Chukchan are sent 'SouthEast', anybdoy following the trail from Chukchan would have a hard time (as we are even after finding the LP), anybody following the broadcast into Chukchan would lead to the same LP. On way back the Adamstor was either travelling in a straight line West for X LY then turning South to Chukchan or was heading elsewhere. So anybody following the line back into Chukchan would end up far to the West of the suvey site. All directions and vectors point far away from the target site. Someone is deliberately pointing people away from the right site.
So a message broadcast straight from CSN to Chukchan would lead straight back to source.
Like I say thats all tinfoil readings and tinfoil 'evidence' to back it up but it made sense. Does imply LPs are 2 way communicators though....
* Edit: I shortened Barnards Star to the 2 initials and got censored
Yeah, I'm taking it that the beacon refers to the transmission apparatus. The sentence seems set up to be referring to what they're doing locally. If there was no LP, then the sentence would still make complete sense, which indicates to me that that's how it's meant anyway.I am, are you taking it to mean the Beacon at the Outpost?

Yeah, those who are in the know at Azimuth are doing so.Someone is deliberately pointing people away from the right site.
We don't know this, see points D and E. (Not saying what you said is definitely not correct, just that we don't know whether it is correct or not.)So a message broadcast straight from CSN to Chukchan would lead straight back to source.

Logs from the Sarasvati were post war.In sheron sytem you have the mega ship GCS SARASVATI... is it from an older story ?

I would love to see something like this in the future. Is there some chemistry and taxonomy specialist? Some strings looks similar to content in some documents about proteins and genes but it is probably just coincidence they are using sequences not common in human language. Do we see part of Thargoid life building blocks?
Interesting. Anyone know if that's an abandoned base that is already known about?
You were missing just a characterIf anyone's still interested (or it's bugging them we haven't solved the listening post data yet) here is the message expressed in corresponding ascii/unicode 8 values:*
