See the strange distribution of what upon later inspection turned out to be cracked puddles of ice (or similar)

I play at 2K with Ultra settings, but no blur, I get over 100 FPS, I don't think it's a PC issue and I'd never seen this effect before during approach to any other planetary base.

Ah, the famous Cloaked Borg Cube.

I've seen more than few of these. Something is casting a perfectly square shadow. I suspect it to be the unseen hand of Beige lurking.

Old issue that happens time to time since Horizon launched, not very often but still exists. Usually it occurs more later in play session. As many see/report different kind of graphic bugs and performance issues during long play session of ed its probably game/game engine issue and not hardware issue.

Cool, thanks guys, like I say, first time for me, glad it's rare, not a big deal. Do you think it's by session? Or rather, if I go back today will it be the same? Or totally random? By the way, I don't think it's a shadow, it looks like the texture filtering is taking different decisions and not applying them horizon to horizon. You can tell by the odd low bit count distribution of those 'things', it's almost like it isn't processing the area around the installation with enough bit depth.

Yeah its some kind of bug/memory issue on surface generation. You see one square. The planet surface is build from these squares and on of them gets wrong color/shadow for some reason/bug. Its totally random and bug in the planet surface generation. Every time you drop on system, planet etc. its generated from seed given by stellar forge. The bug for some reason make one or more squares to be generated wrongly.

Some times this bug go away by turning the ship to other direction or just by getting closer to it and the generating system "fix" or correct itself. Some times it stay as long you are in instance, but it shouldn't be persistent, i.e if you re enter the planetary instance (via, sc out and coming back, or exiting to menu or windows and re joining the game).

Very common rendering Bug, I get those almost all the time.

Kinda hope they fix that sometime soon, as it's quite annoying and looks very ugly :p
